Teddi Mellencamp Is Sharing Her Story On Social Media Hoping It Helps Others
"Lots of questions about updates. Here is the truth; there isn’t one, which may be one of the hardest parts about this. The waiting. Yesterday, I had surgery. I had melanomas removed. I had lymph nodes that lit up so they were also removed and additional biopsies are being done. Hopefully I will get those results soon," her caption began. "Next Wednesday I will get a full genetic mutation testing done for BRCA2, etc. I don’t share this for sympathy- I am sharing because one of the things that keeps me going through all of this is your messages telling me you are getting tested."
Her caption went on to show her appreciation for her family, friends, and medical team. She also said she will do her best to answer questions that her followers have about the process. "I am giving myself permission to crash on the days I need to and work my butt off on the rest, showing up for me, my family and all my streams of work to reach new goals," her caption continued. "Life comes in waves and we will always be stronger for it...on the good days and the bad."

Many of Mellencamp's friends left words of encouragement and love in the comment section of her post. Eddie Judge wrote, "Get well Teddy! Sending lots of love and healing power from our family to you. ❤️" Alexia Umansky, fellow housewife Kyle Richards' daughter, added, "We love you Teddi ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Praying for you. Wishing for a fast and easy recovery ❤️" Jennifer Berman said, "omg so scary and so proud of your strength and candor. Hope, Faith and Will combined with Medical Treatments Can and Will Put You In Remission- stay strong love ❤️ you!"
A week ago, Mellencamp shared a PET Scan update and explained what comes next, along with a reminder to go get checked. "Post PET scan update: looking at PET scans and they think I’m predisposed to melanomas. I will need wide encision surgery removal and nodal mapping. During the surgery they will also do a sentinel lymphnoid biopsy. Because with a PET scan they can’t see if it’s spread to lymph nodes," she wrote in her caption.
Her caption continued, "I am getting 2 more biopsies of new locations today and surgery is on Tuesday. Spots 3 & 4 in the pic near my shoulder are the ones they are concerned could go to lymph nodes and will be a large connected removal. Then will meet with a geneticist to see if I could possibly have the BRCA2 mutation. Thank you for the outpouring of love and support 💕 Please go get checked."
