Country Singer Scotty McCreery And Gabi Dugal Welcome First Child Together

Country music artist Scotty McCreery and his wife, Gabi Dugal McCreery, just announced the birth of their first baby. The duo married in 2018 after knowing each other their whole lives and starting their romantic relationship six years prior.

Scotty revealed that they met each other in kindergarten and officially started dating in their senior year of high school. After tying the knot, the couple reportedly took time to travel and explore before taking a step forward to expand their family.

The artist announced that they were expecting a child in June this year and revealed that he was surprised the baby was a boy due to how many girls were in both families. The couple recently disclosed the birth of the new baby and confirmed that both the mother and child were healthy.

Scotty and Gabi revealed that they had welcomed their first child together on October 24th, after tying the knot in 2018. The "American Idol" alum informed the public on his Instagram page a day after the birth and revealed that he was named Merrick Avery McCreery.

The post caption read, "Never known a love like this. Merrick 'Avery' McCreery joined us 11 days early on October 24th at 4:34 am! 7 Ibs 13oz of nothin but love. Thank yall for all of your prayers during this exciting season of life! Healthy baby and a healthy mama! Praise God."

The pictures showed the newborn and his healthy mother on the hospital bed. The couple announced the pregnancy earlier this year and revealed that the initial delay was because they wanted to experience life alone.

Scott joined a June interview with People, where he mentioned the pregnancy. There he explained that the couple had always talked about children but wanted to do so at the right time. Scott said they decided to expand their family after hitting the road for a while and experiencing life.

"We got a little man on the way. Uncharted waters for us, but we can't wait to dive in and meet the little man," the "American Idol" alum said. "We always knew we wanted kids, but we always knew we wanted the first few years to travel and have time on the road, to see things and experience life."

"We've gotten to live a lot of life and do some cool things, so seems like now's a good time to settle down a little and expand the family," Scott added.

Further on in the interview, Scott revealed that they were considering bringing another bus and constructing a nursery for Merrick in a bid to see how the baby reacts to traveling. "I think we'll bring another bus out and try to make a little nursery for him," the "Damn Strait" artist said.

"It might not be every week, and we'll see how the baby takes to the road life, but it'd be nice, just selfishly, to have Gabi and the baby out there with me," Scotty continued. "I don't want to miss anything with him growing up."

According to the artist, although the family was ready for a baby, they were surprised by the gender of the child. Scotty explained that he was the only boy on both sides of his family, and Gabi had two sisters in hers, so they naturally thought it would be a girl.

Prior to their 2018 wedding, Scotty and Gabi dated each other for six years and were high school sweethearts. The wedding was held in the North Carolina mountains with over 200 people, including family and friends, in attendance. The couple also notably exchanged personalized wedding vows at the event.

Before the event, Scotty told People that they had known each other their entire lives, and he "supports her dreams, and she supports mine." He admitted that he had prepared for the moment for a long time, and he couldn't wait to start building a home with Gabi.

"I've been planning this moment for so long that it feels surreal for it to have finally happened," Scotty said. "Gabi is the perfect girl and my true love, and I cannot wait to begin building our life together as husband and wife."
