The imagery of the comparison is hilarious, but it opened up a massive dialogue among fans.

“I hope that’s not his real torso. He talked about the unhealthy things he did to get in shape for Baywatch,” one fan commented.

“I don’t know if this is prothesis or. Not, but if it is- it’s an identical replica of his abdominal muscle shapes. At any rate – I hope. He has a good therapist, and. he fires whoever made that wig,” another noted.

Others commented “This is kind of heart breaking,” “This is kind of scary” and “I hope he wins an Oscar or something to make it worth all this.”

A fan compared his stomach to a “Human Growth Hormone stomach.”

This concerned Twitter user wrote, “Uhhh I don’t like this for him at all. That steroid belly is obvious. I wish someone close to him would help him.”

Others noted how messed up it was of Efron to accept the role given his negative experience of losing weight and maintaining such a slime figure in “Baywatch.” He even admitted he hated the extreme dieting process of preparing for the role.

“I’m VERY surprised he signed up for this after his doc, and then the interviews, and literally every subsequent time he’s talked about the strain of extreme dieting put on his mental health. Yet here we are!” they wrote.

On a lighter note, some fans took this as an opportunity to draw comparisons to a “Sexy Robin Williams,” David Hasselhoff and “Sexy Squidward meets Ned Flanders.”

As previously mentioned, Efron was vocal about his extreme diet for “Baywatch” and the negative effect it had on him.

He explained to Men’s Health magazine, “I started to develop insomnia, and I fell into a pretty bad depression, for a long time. Something about that experience burned me out. I had a really hard time re-centering. Ultimately, they chalked it up to taking way too many diuretics for way too long, and it messed something up.”

Efron admitted to the publication that he was overtraining, eating the same three meals daily and running on four hours of sleep per night.

“That ‘Baywatch’ look, I don’t know if that’s really attainable,” Efron reflected. “There’s just too little water in the skin. Like, it’s fake; it looks CGI’d. And that required Lasix, powerful diuretics, to achieve. So I don’t need to do that. I much prefer to have an extra, you know, two to three percent body fat.”
