Armie Hammer is in legal hot water again after allegedly owing more than 66k to AMEX, for outstanding credit card bills, adding more drama to his already theatrical life off the stage.
Credit Card Company Says Armie Hammer Isn't Paying
According to legal documents, obtained by The Blast, American Express claims the actor has an outstanding balance of $66,000 on his cards, and it's gotten bad enough that they have filed a lawsuit to try and collect. Interestingly, the last time fans saw Hammer, he was on the Cayman Islands selling timeshares.
American Express claims the actor owes a large sum for unpaid changes and/or cash advances, plus balance transfers. The card has been active since 2011.
The Death on the Nile actor initially didn’t confirm that he was in the real estate business and kind of skated past inquiring minds. But it was eventually revealed by a source that he was in fact selling timeshares on the island.
“He is working at the resort and selling timeshares. He is working at a cubicle,” a source reportedly leaked to the media. Adding, "The reality is he’s totally broke and is trying to fill the days and earn money to support his family."
A flyer was also circulating around the island with Hammer’s face and name on it and pointing those interested in his direction.
Armie Hammer’s Exposed As Having Twisted Lifestyle
The actor is unfortunately in this situation just months after a few women accused him of sexual assault and abuse. To top it off, it was all outside of his marriage to his wife Elizabeth Chambers. Soon after, a secret Instagram account reportedly came to light along with DM which revealed a scarier side to Hammer.
“I want to eat you,” he wrote in one message leading fans to realize that Hammer was a bit cannibalistic. Alleged DMs and some voice messages revealed that Hammer had specific tastes.
He added, "My bet was going to involve showing up to your place and completely tying you up and incapacitating you and then being able to do whatever I wanted to every single hole in your body until I was done.”
Armie Hammer’s Wife Wanted Out Marriage
The Call Me By Your Name actor’s wife, decided she had had enough and left him after 2 children and ten years of marriage. While they were trying to make things work by moving to the Cayman Islands during the pandemic for a safer, quieter life, Chambers just couldn’t take the embarrassment anymore.
This has led to a very expensive divorce and custody battle. Chambers practically planned an escape in disguise of a trip home to visit family. Hammer commented on the betrayal through his lawyer, sharing his absolute shock that his wife, who he cheated on would never leave him.
“When I asked Elizabeth when she was coming home, however, she first told me that the airports were closed. Then I was informed through her attorneys that flights were merely limited but that she and our children would be back in Los Angeles on the first flight in October. It is now several weeks into October, and they have not returned.”
Armie Hammer Is Drowning In Debt, Cause Is His Divorce?!
According to one report, the estranged couple’s pending divorce is helping the reason behind the credit card bills. Apparently, the payments for the bills are being worked out in the couple's divorce settlement. While a dollar amount has not been put on the close of the divorce or the custody issues, they were forced to sell their marital home after slashing the price by $800,000.
It seems Hammer now has a regular people job that requires him to clock in and out every day and be accountable for how he acts. As you know, these Hollywood divorces are not cheap at all, and while $66,000 owed to AMEX doesn’t sound like a big deal for an actor, let’s remember that Hammer is in a significantly different position than he was pre-pandemic.
The case is now in front of a judge.
