Actor Ezra Miller has come under fire recently after a video surfaced of the actor reportedly choking a fan in Iceland. Miller, who goes by the pronouns “they/them” is being dragged by fans on Twitter after a video emerged of the actor allegedly choking a fan after being challenged to a fight. As reported by ‘The Independent’, the encounter took place between Miller and an unnamed woman and was seemingly a “play fight.” However, after the video surfaced, fans began to unleash on the actor via social media.

‘The Independent’ detailed the video, reporting, “In response, [Miller] says ‘Oh, you wanna fight? That’s what you wanna do?’ before grabbing her by the neck and pushing her into the back wall of an aisle truck parked behind her.” A man is heard off-camera exclaiming “whoa, bro, bro, bro” then cut the video as Miller seemingly forces the woman to the ground. The video clip has been watched nearly 5.5 million times at the time of publication as it makes its way across the social media sphere.

The video clip has sparked some serious backlash on social media. The video was first posted to Reddit, with a thread that read, “DC’s Flash actor Ezra Miller chokes out a female fan in Iceland after challenging her to a fight. It happened two days ago and the mainstream media is oddly silent.” This prompted some users to admit they found the video to be fake and that the whole thing seemed contrived. Meanwhile, other users were outraged which caused Miller to trend on Twitter.

The hashtag #ezramillerisoverparty began trending as most of the users admitted that it wasn’t okay to choke anyone, playing around or not. One person tweeted out, “Good morning, good morning, good morning. Not you, Ezra Miller, you can choke.#ezramillerisoverparty." Meanwhile, another user wrote, “Ezra Miller ch*ked a fan and slammed them on the ground…we need a new lead for The Flash ASAP. if nothing happens then that just proves even further no one cares about safety of women. #ezramillerisoverparty .”

While Miller has yet to issue a response to the video, Twitter is seemingly having a field day. Miller has had quite the film catalog under their belt, with roles in films such as ‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower’ and the ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ series. Perhaps more notably, Miller was cast as Barry Allen, otherwise known as ‘The Flash’ in the DC Universe. Miller was in ‘Justice League’ as well as made cameos as Allen in ‘Suicide Squad’ and ‘Batman v Superman.’ Miller does have a solo movie regarding The Flash in development with a planned release of 2022.
