The newest couple in town had much to be thankful for to Ferguson, as the “Cocaine Bear” actor was the officiating minister in charge of their spectacular wedding that took place in August.
Not only did the actor wed the pair together, but he has also been a big part of Hyland’s life. Ferguson played the role of Hyland’s onscreen uncle in the popular sitcom series “Modern Family” and has since continued to share a sweet bond with the “Geek Charming” actress.
Sarah Hyland & Wells Adams Share Endearing Words To Jesse Tyler Ferguson
The appreciative couple both took to Instagram to celebrate Ferguson on his birthday. They shared a video showing when Hyland’s father walked the actress down the aisle to be joined together with her husband.
She donned a Vera Wang Haute custom-made light ivory silk ballgown with a hand-pleated bodice and French tulle sleeves accented by a high slit that revealed her toned legs.
The actress also paired the gown with an ankle-length white flowing veil. While her handsome husband, Adams, looked dapper dressed in a black tuxedo and a black tie.
Ferguson, on the other hand, donned a navy blue suit and a white shirt. He stood at the altar as he began the procession of joining the two together. He started by making the couple laugh before going into the intricacies of marriage and how couples are meant to love and accommodate each other to have a successful one.
He went on to describe how the couple should learn to cohabit and love each other, saying, “Like the earth, should your love be a firm foundation that grows stronger through the seasons. Like a star, should your love be a constant source of light. Like a flame, should your union be lit with passion and love in your hearts.”
He then guided the pair in exchanging their vows and even incorporated a handfasting ritual to honor Hyland’s Irish and Scottish heritage before pronouncing them husband and wife.
Captioning the post in appreciation to Ferguson, they wrote, “To be married by @jessetyler was a dream and a privilege. Jesse, you have been such an amazing friend, mentor, and an integral part of our lives.”
Before sweetly adding, “So happy birthday to the best officiant of all time! Our wedding truly would not have been as special without you 💕🧙🏼♂️.”
Ferguson Revealed He Wasn’t Initially Supposed To Officiate The Wedding
The “Broadway Rising” actor did a superb job conducting the wedding ceremony between Adams and Hyland as he appeared to have been born for the role.
However, per The Blast, Ferguson disclosed during an exclusive interview that he was not originally the person chosen to officiate the wedding.
He revealed that the actress’s TV dad, Ty Burrell, in the comedy series “Modern Family,” was supposed to officiate the union of the two.
He said, “I don’t know if people know this, but Ty Burrell was meant to do it, and there was a family emergency. So, I got a phone call 12 days before the wedding, and that’s why Ty wasn’t there, he had stuff going on.”
He also made it clear that all the cast members got invited to the couple’s Santa Barbara nuptials, although not everyone could be present for the ceremony. However, a couple of the stars graced the occasion – including Sofia Vergara, Ferguson’s partner, Justin Mikita, Julie Bowen, and Nolan Gould.
The “Ivy + Bean” actor also revealed that he initially panicked when given the role. In his words, “it’s going to be a wedding, and it’s going to be in Vogue magazine, and there’s also going to be paparazzi shots of me from a helicopter, officiating” before sarcastically adding, “no pressure.”
Thankfully, Ferguson had Burrell to help guide him through the entire process. The onscreen in-laws had no problem relying on one another in cross-checking and ticking all the boxes to ensure the “Vampire Academy” actress had the best day of her life.
