TikToker Michelle Sarna, who goes by @brokeasshorsegirl on the app, is feeling the hate online lately. After being fired from her six-figure tech job over a TikTok she posted where you can vaguely hear a work meeting going on in the background, she decided to handle it in stride and share her journey with her social media followers.
"People On The Internet Say Mean Sh-- To Me" Episode Two
For some reason, there are people who are sending her negative and downright mean messages over the whole incident. But she's decided not to clap back traditionally and handling it all with some humor by starting a TikTok series called, "People on the Internet Say Mean Sh-- To Me." In her second episode of the series, she reads more hateful things strangers have commented about her.
"I'm Michelle, your host, and the girl that everybody seems to hate," she started the video off. "If you're new here, I started this series last week after a news story about me went viral and people on the Internet decided to submit comments about how much they hated me."
She went on to explain why she believes people are saying mean things to her by saying, "Well, a couple months ago I got on TikTok and told the entire world about how I got fired from my six-figure tech job and how I've decided to just move on with my life and that I'm not really that upset about the situation and since then I've started my own company in the equine technology space."
Sarna said that because of her age, 24, she thinks many have negative opinions on how she's choosing to live her life. In the video series, she hand-picks some of her "favorite" negative comments to read out loud to her followers for fun. Before she dives into the hate, she pours herself a hearty mug of wine, because who wouldn't need a little wine before hearing strangers talk badly about your life choices?
Michelle Sarna Reads Some Mean Comments Out Loud With A Smile
After a sip of wine, it's time to dissect some of the comments. "Our first comment came from Alex. He said, '24? Girl you look 40. Jesus,'" she read. "Thank you, Alex." The next comment reads, "Any man who dates this woman are doing charity work." She then goes on to the next comment. "How does somebody with barely any common sense even secure a six-figure job in the first place? They were right to let her go," Sarna reads. Another commenter wrote, "I've seen better heads on horses." The negativity just went on and on.
Sarna's followers jumped into the comment section of her TikTok video to let her know it's not her, it's them. One follower wrote, "You’re actually emotionally healthy. Interestingly the strangers that lash out are showing they are not." Another said, "People are going to try to bring you down to their level when you have something they want! I think you’re destined for big things! You’re awesome!" And another follower wrote, "Girl, I can only hope my daughters continue to be as amazing as you!! You've done more at 24 than most at 45!" One of Sarna's followers reminded her that it's about the ones making the comments, not her, by writing, "I love how these people don't really hate you because they don't know you, they just wish you would hate you because they hate themselves too."
There's Only One Opinion That Matters To Michelle Sarna
In another TikTok video, Sarna explains why she's handling all the Internet hate in stride. "Everybody in my inner circle who sees all of these horrible things that are being said about me on the Internet keeps coming to me and they're like 'are you OK?' Yes," she said. "Do you know why I'm OK? Because there's one person on this entire planet whose opinion of me matters and do you know who that is? It's me."
One of her followers commented, "it's giving Elise Meyers energy. keep it up. babes." Another wrote, "You ARE somebody! These people are used to seeing people fall apart for a hangnail! You’re an inspiration for others!!" "I needed your video this morning. thanks for the message," another follower wrote.
