Madison Beer Brings Life to 'Life Support'

Madison Beer is not depressed about her delayed album, but she is depressed about something. The new track from her postponed Life Support is sure to have you in agreement.

The native New Yorker was propelled to fame when Justin Bieber tweeted one of her at-home YouTube videos in 2012. At the time she was declared a "future star" by the Biebs, baby Beer was just 12-years-old.

Fast-forward eight years: Surrounded by celebrifriends and decked in blue feathers, Madison celebrated 'the big 21' last month during a sparkly, carnival-themed bash.

And speaking of blue...

Madison's new single "Stained Glass" dropped this Friday morning, and it's got us feeling a few shades darker than her birthday dress.

We decided earlier this week that she is our (fellow) resident v sad girl - and it's for this we are so thankful. For real, though: Madison Beer has always been a faithful spokesperson for things a lot of people in her position don't want to talk about. She hopes this vulnerable album shows that - when it comes down to it - the pop star is just like us.

“It's a really representative body of work of my last year or two of life,” she says of Life Support.

“I touch on topics that I feel like I’ve never really touched on publicly, and speaking on them in a way that I’m comfortable. I think that’s the most exciting part for me about the album. Coming out and talking about certain dark moments, or depression, or suicidal thoughts - it’s hard for me to talk about it conversationally and so expressing that through my music and having that be the first step into opening up about those kind of things I think is good."

We want you to save your tears for Madison's music. But, we also feel like it's important you know that this girl has been THROUGH it.

A brief deep-dive will quickly surface recorded accounts of Madi being verbally abused by an ex-boyfriend.

More recently - as in, on her 21st birthday - you'll find an open letter about a guy who leaked private videos that were taken when she was only 14.

And less than a year ago, a man attending her California concert was apprehended for allegedly POINTING A GUN AT HER.

Despite these constrained times, Beer has stayed busy with at-home interviews and live streams (and who knows what else). One particularly interesting session was a fan Q&A hosted with Tumblr's official music blog.

Along with the forthcoming album, Madison says her main motivation is a supporting tour.

"I’m just excited to get back on the road and start seeing my fans, and my supporters, and friends and people who care about me and care enough to come out and see me," she said on March 24th. "Because I think that’s a really special thing. I value that a lot - interactions. Being able to hold, and hug, and speak to, and bond, and grow friendships with my fans. It’s just awesome.”
