James Corden seemingly has a history of being rude.
With the spotlight on the comedian following the backlash he received from a top New York-based restaurateur for being rude, stories from his past have come to light.
It appears the show host was cautioned about his bad behavior by a good friend and co-star from his early days of fame.
James Corden's Co-star Warned About 'Irritable' Attitude
Before Corden moved to the United States to become one of the powerhouses of late-night talk shows, he was quite the star in the United Kingdom for his hit show, "Gavin & Stacey." The Hillingdon native starred and co-wrote the critically acclaimed BBC sitcom alongside Ruth Jones, winning a BAFTA for his performance.
However, during those days of rising to fame and becoming a household name, one of his "Gavin & Stacey" co-stars noticed his insolent behavior and tried to warn him.
Per reports, actor Rob Brydon had to have a sit-down with "The Late Late Show" host because things were getting out of hand. In a 2019 interview with The Independent, Brydon recalled the encounter. "
I’d known him for a while – we met on a big comedy-drama called Cruise of the Gods in about 2002. I was very impressed by him, although he was very young, very green – very provincial is how I would describe him, not unlike myself at that age, Brydon said of his first meeting with Corden.
He described the 44-year-old as "such a talent" who was on a "roller coaster" and "lost his way a bit" while trying to enjoy the fruits of his success. Explaining how Corden was spiraling out of control, Brydon told the publication, "He was burning the candle at both ends, and becoming ratty and irritable. He was in a washing machine being battered around. I felt for him. And the press over here were hoping and praying he’d fall flat on his face because that would be a fantastic story."
That was when Corden’s co-star decided to step in and took the comedian for lunch in a bid to set him straight. Out of concern for his friend’s career, Brydon decided to do needful and call out Corden.
"I was sitting there thinking, 'When am I going to bring this up?' And I just said, 'I don’t like hearing people saying this, because that’s not the person I know. So you need to be careful.' And he took it in the spirit that it was intended."

Corden himself has told the story of how Brydon helped set him straight when he was acting "spoilt and brattish."
Corden Was Tagged 'Most Abusive' Customer By Restauranteur
Brydon’s intervention came to light after Corden was most called out by restaurant owner Keith McNally for being nasty to his staff. As we previously reported, the owner of the famous restaurant Balthazar took to Instagram to slam the comedian, writing, "James Corden is a Hugely gifted comedian but a tiny Cretin of a man. And the most abusive customer to my Balthazar servers since the restaurant opened 25 years ago."
McNally cited two occasions where Corden had crossed boundaries and was mean towards his staff. In one instance, the comedian threatened the manager that he would write negative reviews. In another instance, he berated a server for getting his order wrong.
McNally banned the "Cats" star from his restaurant. In a subsequent update, the restaurant owner reviewed that Corden called him to apologize profusely for his behavior. McNally declared he forgave the show host and gave him a second chance.
"Having f**ked up myself more than most people, I strongly believe in second chances, he wrote. "anyone magnanimous enough to apologize to a deadbeat layabout like me (and my staff) doesn’t deserve to be banned from anywhere. Especially Balthazar. So come Back to the 5 & Dime, Jimmy Corden, Jimmy Corden. All is Forgiven."
Days after the online controversy, the NYC restaurant owner expressed regret about his explosive rant towards Corden. As The Blast reported, McNally, in an Instagram post, admitted he was "feeling strange about the James Corden thing." He noted he was feeling "really sorry" for the "Carpool Karaoke" host.
