Henry Unfortunately Died In 2018

Henry died from a brain tumor on Delaney's 41st birthday in 2018. He was diagnosed with a brain stem tumor shortly after his first birthday and had surgery to remove it, which left him "seriously physically disabled." After 15 months of hospital recovery, the little boy returned home with his family and spent time with his parents and brothers.

Unfortunately, a check-up months later revealed Henry's cancer had started to return, and it eventually took him. Delaney described his late son as "a very sweet, mischievous, funny boy' who 'sensed right away that he would have to be very magnetic and adorable and attractive because our house was a zoo."

Rob Delaney Wrote About The Loss In His New Book

During his conversation with Johnson, Delaney explained why he'd decided to write about his family's loss in his upcoming book, "A Heart That Works." He said he wants the book to help other parents who have lost a child, especially cancer.

Delaney said, "It's not courageous, it's just what other bereaved people did for me and my wife. If I can write a book that can reach someone in a suburb of Yorkshire who can't get to a London bereaved parents meeting, then I've gotta do it."
