Cara Delevingne Realized She Was A 'Prude'
Delevingne spoke about her upcoming "Planet Sex" docu-series to Variety at the international TV market Mipcom in Cannes. She said that the series, which is produced by Fremantle for Hulu and BBC, took her on a ride. Delevingne said she never imagined the experiences she'd gain when she agreed to the series.
The British supermodel said filming the series made her realize she was "more of a prude" than she thought. Delevingne said, "I went into the masturbation seminar thinking it was going to be a classroom and I'd have a notepad, and instead it was a pink, leather gym mat on the floor, with six people going, 'Well, take your underwear off. This is the lube.'"
She continued, "I didn't realize I was a prude. I think I'm a pretty hip, young, cool, down-with-anything kind of girl but I was like, 'Sorry what? Sorry, no, absolutely not, I will not do that.' But I kind of did everything I felt comfortable doing."
She Spoke About Her Filming Experience
During the interview, Delevingne admitted that she never had reservations about the different experiences she went through. She explained that she was more excited about what they would do each day. Delevingne said, "I'm used to being a chameleon but this was absurd. One day you're going to get your blood taken while having an orgasm, the next day you're going to a porn library. I was like, 'Right, okay, screw my head back on.'"
The "Paper Towns" actress was in Cannes to promote the series, which premieres worldwide on Hulu on November 29th. Audiences in the Grand Palais enjoyed an exclusive 10-minute preview of the series' first episode. The series' reportedly opens with Delevingne talking about her sexuality and saying she's "100%" queer.
Each episode of the "Planet Sex" docu-series follows Delevingne as she explores several big questions about sex and sexuality. The actress goes on a voyage of discovery through different cultures, laboratories, and individuals, to find a conclusion to each question.
The Documentary Opened Cara Delevingne's Eyes
Delevingne, who is an executive producer on "Planet Sex," also said that filming the show, which happened during the 2020 pandemic, "opened my eyes so much." She explained that her eagerness to take on the docu-series was because of its personal nature.
Delevingne said per Variety, "I feel like I needed this in my life, honestly. Maybe not to do it on camera — I mean, that was something I wanted to do for other people, but in terms of, for me, I grew up a lot. I had chosen to take a step back from love and relationships for a while before I did this and this made me realize again how much I needed to repair certain things in my life and move on from that. I really grew up a lot."
Cara Delevingne Has Learnt To Accept Herself Better
The "Life in a Year" actress said that the series helped her accept herself "a lot more" than before. However, she also said that she's still not come to any definite conclusions about her identity. When asked whether it was difficult getting so personal and being filmed, Delevingne said she'd since "signed up for this life" but that she hasn't "been honest enough about this subject."
Delevinge said, "If I can or have had the effect I have on only one person or a group of kids, I don't think I've spoken about it enough. Yes, me showing my face with someone I was in love with who happened to be the same sex, was something, but that wasn't really enough in the real road and real journey I've been on in my life — the hard times, good times, great times… I was upset at myself I hadn't done it earlier."
