R. Kelly Prosecutors Are Tired Of Hearing Singer Complain About Prison

The prosecutors taking on R. Kelly are really tired of hearing the disgraced singer complain about the conditions behind bars.

According to court documents obtained by The Blast, New York prosecutors are asking the court to shut down Kelly’s recent plea to be let out on bond.

Kelly is currently incarcerated in Chicago MCC awaiting trial in two separate criminal cases. He has made numerous unsuccessful attempts to have a judge grant him bond.

The alleged child sex predator has complained about everything from his choice of snacks, not having “meaningful interaction with other humans”, not having enough time outside, being without television and demanded extra shower time. Prosecutors said Kelly had the same treatment as any other inmate. The singer was actually accused of violating prison rules by prosecutors. They said he found ways to communicate with his associates without being monitored and refused to have a cellmate.

In his recent plea, 53-year-old Kelly says the conditions inside Chicago MCC are dangerous given his age and health. Back in January, Kelly underwent emergency hernia surgery and missed a court date. He believes it would be best for him to be let out of prison. He cried about not being able to meet his lawyers to build his defense before trial.

He proposed a plan which has him moving into a modest apartment with his girlfriend, Joycelyn Savage. The complex is located in an outdoor shopping mall which might be a problem given the accusations against Kelly.

In newly filed court documents, prosecutors argue, “if released, there is a risk that the defendant will flee and that the defendant will obstruct, attempt to obstruct, threaten, intimidate or attempt to threaten or intimidate one or more prospective witnesses.”

Prosecutors say the singer is only 53-years old and there any many older inmates. They argue he is not in a dangerous situation while locked up.

Further, they say his recent surgery went without issues and he “had his post-surgery follow-up appointment and has been discharged from the doctor’s care.” Prosecutors say Kelly has full access to soap and cleaning supplies at no cost and “may purchase additional soap from the commissary if he so chooses.”

In regard to not being able to see his lawyers they say Kelly is not telling the truth. Prosecutors say the singer continues to meet with his legal team, including as recent as March 18, 2020, and the prison “continues to allow attorney visits on a case-by-case basis.”

Prosecutors are asking for the court to shut down Kelly’s demands.
