Angelica Carrasquillo-Torres, a fifth-grade teacher at a private Catholic school in Indiana, has been arrested after admitting she had a list of students and staff members she wanted to kill.
The 25-year-old St. Stanislaus Schoolteacher was arrested after a student reported her to the school the day prior, saying the teacher told him/her that she wanted to kill herself, students, and staff members.
St. Stanislaus School Student Reports Fifth-Grade Teacher For Disturbing Statements
At approximately 5 p.m. on Wednesday, October 12, the East Chicago Police Department was dispatched to speak with the principal and assistant principal of St. Stanislaus School after school officials learned of a "threatening report" regarding the fifth-grade teacher, Angelica Carrasquillo-Torres, 25.
The report came from a student of hers, who went to school officials earlier that afternoon after he/she was told that the teacher wanted to kill herself, as well as students and staff members.
According to school officials, Carrasquillo-Torres was immediately escorted to the principal’s office after the report was made by the student to discuss the "disturbing incident." The 25-year-old teacher admitted to the claims, saying she did make those statements to the student, and then went on to confirm that she also had a “kill list" of students and staff members.
However, the police department was not notified for four hours after the report was filed, which was at approximately 12:45 p.m., meaning the fifth-grade teacher was freely allowed to leave the premises. Again, the East Chicago Police Department was not dispatched until 5 p.m. that day.
Statement Released By East Chicago Police Department
“At approximately 12:45 p.m. a 5th grade student told his/her Counselor that their 5th grade teacher made comments to him/her about killing herself, students, and staff at St. Stanislaus School,” East Chicago Police Department said in a statement released on social media. “The teacher further told the student that she has a list and that he/she was on the bottom of that list.”
“During the conversation the teacher named a specific student on her list, but did not provide the list,” authorities confirmed to ABC News. “The Principal then advised the teacher to leave and not return to school pending an investigation.”
Once the officers were notified, they immediately notified the Criminal Investigation Division, who was able to obtain an emergency detention order for Carrasquillo-Torres from the Lake County Prosecutors Office.

School Proceeds With Scheduled Learning
In a letter released to parents of the school, Principal Angelica Foy said, "When asked, the police assured us that our facility was safe and that we could proceed with all scheduled learning and school events. We asked if, out of an abundance of caution, it would be advisable to have police in the building and we were further assured that there was no need."
