Like man actors, Rohm got her start on a soap opera.

In 1997, she landed the role of Dorothy Hayes on the ABC soap One Life to Live.

Rohm's character never caught on with audiences and after a year with the show, she was let go.

While her time on the soap opera was short-lived, it didn't demolish Rohm's career.

Shortly afterwards she joined the WB series Angel. Rohm was featured on a few episodes as Detective Kate Lockley.

But her big break would come in 2001 when she was hired for the NBC crime series Law & Order.

Rohm's character for Law & Order was ADA Serena Southerlyn.

Working alongside Sam Waterston's Jack McCoy, Serena was a young, prominent attorney.

Often she was in a clash with her bosses over the cases they were prosecuting.

Rohm stayed with the series for four years before leaving in 2005.

Her character's exit caused some controversy.

During the final scene Serena is talking with District Attorney Arthur Branch, played by Fred Thompson.

When Branch informs Serena he's letting her go. Serena then stuns the audience when she asks if she's being fired because she's a lesbian.

The scene with Serena caused mixed reactions from fans and critics, but it's considered one of the most shocking moments in television history.

Rohm is known mostly for her television work, but she's also a film actress.

One of her first major roles was co-starring alongside Sandra Bullock in the 2005 comedy Miss Congeniality 2.

Since then she's gone on to appear in other big films such as American Hustle, and Joy.

Her most recent role came as Fox News host Martha MacCallum in the 2019 film Bombshell. The movie details the sexual harassment allegations the female reporters of Fox News made against CEO Roger Ailes.

Aside from being an actress, Rohm is also a mother.

In April 2008, she gave birth to a daughter named Easton.

Shortly after her daughter's birth, Rohm married her boyfriend Ron Anthony Wooster.

Rohm and Wooster's marriage ended October 2014. Even though the couple is no longer together, they're committed to co-parenting their daughter.

Rohm runs her own blog where she talks about her life as a mom. Most of Rohm's posts consist the adventures she shares with her daughter along with how she and her ex handle their custody arrangement.
