The mother-of-five revealed she was “nervous” to take on the hosting role, but channeled her inner-Ryan Seacrest.

“I was away from my children for almost a month, which was brutal,” Spelling admitted. “I hated being away from my kids and that was the longest I've ever gone. It was right when their school started so it was really hard to pull them out.”

Luckily, McDermott was there to fulfill his fatherly duties.

“Co-parenting, Dean and I definitely have different parenting strategies,” Spelling admitted. “I'm kind of the feelings mom and he's more procedural. He's really great at timing and planning. I'm not good with that.”

Tori insists their Yin and Yang is what keeps their family afloat.

“You need both of those to make it work. You really do need that to be a complete human. You need both worlds," she said.

Spelling didn’t have too much downtime to think about her sadness.

“The good thing is we were filming for so many hours and I never had a day off because it's filmed in real time so working and not having a moment to focus on how sad I was without them – that was good,” she noted.

The newly-minted show host said the show is more dramatic than “Love Island.”

"Love At First Lie" Is More Dramatic Than "Love Island"

“Drama unfolds like no other, I was there for it and I got to watch the drama play out in such crazy ways,” she explained. “You mix people in relationships and money – and people go nuts. There was one moment where there was so much drama happening that security had to be called onto stage to break it up – that was crazy.”

Spelling grew up in the limelight given her father, Aaron Spelling, was mega-successful TV and film producer.

She’s a seasoned pro in the entertainment industry.

Her upbringing was very different from the way she’s raising her five children.

"Growing up. I didn't know how to communicate my feelings. I wasn't good at it," Tori admitted to the outlet. “I'm a Taurus. I never really talked about me. I felt like I kept it all inside and that weighs on you, the stress and anxiety over keeping things inside. It manifests not just mentally and emotionally, but into physical ailments eventually."

She noted that her kids may drag her for asking them to open up about their emotions too much.

“My kids, they'll probably say, 'Oh, Mom asks too much about our feelings.' That's okay," she shared. "I am constantly checking in and saying, 'Okay, what's up? What are your worries? Let's talk about it.'"

Tori and her children do an after-school recap of their day.

"'I can't predict the unknown, but let's talk about what scenarios could happen and talk about it.' And then when they come back from school, we do a recap,” she explained.
