Emma Watson has broken her silence regarding the novel coronavirus now responsible for over 16,000 deaths worldwide. The "Harry Potter" actress last posted on March 8 for International Women's Day, resuming her social media activity on Monday with a powerful post centering around COVID-19.

With millions around the globe in quarantine, the virus now confirmed in all U.S. 50 states, and governments scrambling to assemble enough medical masks for staff and ventilators for patients, the global pandemic now sees celebrities begging for fans to properly social distance – Emma's update saw her joining the A-Lister fight against the virus.

Emma opened her post with a simple photo of herself holding up a board. The 29-year-old actress was nonetheless looking stunning as she posed in a white, cable-knit sweater and with her hair tied back – a direct gaze and slight smile afforded an uplifting vibe, with the sign reading:

"# I Stay home for my Grandma Mum and best friend."

A caption shared more, with the star tagging former First Lady Michelle Obama.

"My grandma is over 70, so particularly vulnerable... My Mum is a type 1 diabetic and my best friend is a health care professional. #Istayhomefor them. ❤️ Who are you staying home for? ⁣ Sending love. E xxx

Thank you to @michelleobama for the tips. ?," Emma wrote.

Emma's 55.1 million followers were right on this update. The Brit's post brought in over 1 million likes in its first half hour, with the comments section quickly filling up.

"I am glad that in this social distancing of quarantine

We are socially connected

Stay safe and blessed up Emma " came from Swiss model Rudy Bundini.

"I stay home for my grandparents and for everyone who is sick??," one fan wrote.

"For everyone, not just for my family," another user added.

The coronavirus-related challenges have been coming strong from celebs. Just yesterday, 30-year-old singer Bebe Rexha posed naked to promote social distancing – the New Yorker recently made headlines for announcing that a "friend of a friend" had died from COVID-19.

While the vast majority of early responses to Emma's post were positive, the French-born actress did garner a hint of criticism.

"You're also a multi-millionaire who can," one user wrote, with others liking the comment.

The concept that ultra-wealthy celebrities have the luxury of self-isolating without much in the way of financial concern has already proven a headline-maker. "Wonder Woman" actress Gal Gadot raised eyebrows over her home situation, with 46-year-old actress Kate Beckinsale recently finding herself reminded by a garbage man that he "had" to work.

The first major celebrity face to have confirmed being coronavirus-positive came earlier this month as 63-year-old actor Tom Hanks and wife Rita Wilson announced their COVID-19 diagnosis. The "Cast Away" actor just this week updated fans to say that he's "feeling better."

Meanwhile, the latest famous face to have been confirmed positive is Hollywood producer and now-jailed rapist Harvey Weinstein. He joins confirmed cases including British actor Idris Elba, NBA stars including Kevin Durant and Donovan Mitchell, "Bond" girl Olga Kurylenko, and Andy Cohen, plus "Game of Thrones" stars.
