Justin Timberlake Opens Up About Marriage with Jessica Biel, Being Unable to 'Erase' the Past

Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel seemingly had the perfect marriage up until several months ago where affair rumors circulated from photos that showed the singer and his fellow co-star in a film, Alisha Wainwright, holding hands while having a number of drinks at a bar in New Orleans. While Timberlake claimed nothing happened or was happening between the two, he's been working to get back in good graces with his wife. It seems, though, that the two have finally gotten through the incident; however, according to Timberlake, paths can't be 'erased', only modified.

In a recent interview with the Daily Mail, Timberlake opened up about his marriage to Biel and answered some questions concerning what had transpired over the last several months.

Regarding the process of growing up, he believes it's something that never stops. "I don’t have any secret for growing up except to continue to try to do my best. There’s always something to learn, and you have to realise that you have a footprint and you can’t go back and erase it," he told the outlet during the interview. "But you can improve the next path, and that’s all you can really do."

"I think it’s important to remember that you go into marriage knowing that you don’t know very much about it at all," Timberlake continued. Regardless of the former N'SYNC member knowing anything about it, Timberlake explained how his relationship with Biel began and how it, ultimately, led to marriage with the actress.

"She’s still serious about her career, but she’s also funny and charismatic and patient and understanding and incredibly passionate," he said. "There was nothing starry about the way we got together. We met and got talking, and afterward, I asked our friend if I could call her and ask her out.

"He called Jessica and she said yes, though I must say I had to be pretty persistent. But I have a fair amount of tenacity and if I want something I stick to it," Timberlake added.

Timberlake and Biel share a child together and for the former boy band member, it's a grounding experience, but also one that he's thankful for. "It’s humbling for sure! It’s amazing and it’s hard, but you just have to realise that the real success of parenthood is getting to wake up the next day and fail all over again! But it’s the thing that makes me happiest, hands down," he revealed to the outlet.

As for upcoming projects? There's no much on his schedule right now. As he's developed an acting career, he's been able to be pickier about what roles he wants to take, which benefits the end result and provides him with added family time.

"Work takes you away from your family, so if I’m going to work on a project it better be something really inspiring" he explained, referring to working on new film roles.

"I’m now at a point in my life where I can be choosy about the things I do. The more I enjoy being an artist and a dad and a husband, each day I find a little bit more of myself and a way to express that. I love my work and I love my family, and that’s a very good place to be," he concluded.
