Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen's marital woes are seemingly spreading into other parts of their lives.
Amid rumors that the estranged couple is heading toward a divorce, reports have surfaced that the construction of their mansion project has been halted.
News of Brady and Bündchen facing issues in their marriage first surfaced in late August, with reports that they didn't see eye-to-eye on the quarterback's decision to unretire. Ever since, things have gotten progressively worse, with the couple of 13 years already getting armed with divorce lawyers.
Tom Brady & Gisele Bündchen Divorce News Halts Mansion Construction
According to The New York Post, the couple’s South Florida property currently sits unfinished, and their impending divorce has a role to play. A source told the publication that construction on the lavish mega mansion has been on pause for the past few weeks.
The insider noted that last week’s Hurricane Ian had a significant impact on why the building was paused. However, the news that Brady and Bündchen might divorce took things to another level of complications. Per the source, "There is no telling what they will do with what was supposed to be their forever marriage home."
The estranged lovebirds purchased the luxury Miami Beach estate property in 2020 for a whopping $17 million and are shelling out an extra $10.12 million to build it to their desired taste. Exclusive floor plans of the property obtained by The New York Post show that the mega-mansion boasts several luxury amenities such as an organic garden, a pickleball court, a yoga terrace, a main kitchen, a prep kitchen, an outdoor kitchen, a meditation garden, and expansive his-and-hers bathroom suites.
The 1.8-acre property, which was supposed to be their forever marital home, is located in the upscale area of the Indian Creek Country Club community where the likes of Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner, supermodel Adriana Lima, and billionaire Jeff Soffer live.
The unfinished property would comprise three buildings — a two-story main house, a security post, and a gym. The expansive gym house would have a massage room, a changing room, an exercise terrace, and a steam shower.
Other notable features of the home include a sports court, an elevator, a movie theater, a study, a motor court, a hot tub, a service landing, a pool cabana, five bedrooms, and 11 bathrooms.
Brady & Bündchen Reportedly Hired Divorce Lawyers
The update on the couple’s mansion comes days after reports surfaced that Brady and Bündchen hired divorce lawyers. As The Blast reported, the pair have been spending quite some time apart, with them even reportedly bunking apart when Hurricane Ian swept through Florida. However, the time apart didn’t help to make their relationship better.
Multiple sources confirmed that the NFL quarterback and his Brazilian model wife have sought legal help, with one source sharing, "I never actually thought this argument would be the end of them, but it looks like it is. I don’t think there will be any coming back now. They both have lawyers and are looking at what a split will entail, who gets what and what the finances will be."
If indeed the reports of a looming divorce are true, an insider confirmed that Brady and Bündchen would settle for joint custody of their two kids — Benjamin and Vivian— as they are very involved and hands-on parents.
As for the division of their assets, details are largely unknown, but it is speculated that the couple would choose to file their divorce papers in Floria, given that it’s their primary base. No reports of prenuptial agreements have been confirmed, but it is worth noting that the "Devil Wears Prada" actress has an estimated net worth of $400 million while her athlete husband is worth $250 million.
There’s no doubt a lot at stake if both parties go their separate ways!
