Country music legend Loretta Lynn passed away on Tuesday, October 4, in her home in Tennessee. She was 90 years old.

In a statement posted to social media, her family said that she passed away peacefully in her sleep in her home in Hurricane Mills.

The family requested privacy as they mourned her loss but stated that an announcement regarding a public memorial to honor her legacy would be coming in the near future.

In the meantime, plenty of fans and famous friends, especially in the country music community, took to social media to pay tribute to her passing.

Famous Friends Mourn The Loss Of Loretta Lynn, Dead At 90

Dolly Parton tweeted a short statement, writing, “So sorry to hear about my sister, friend Loretta. We’ve been like sisters all the years we’ve been in Nashville and she was a wonderful human being, wonderful talent, had millions of fans and I’m one of them.”

“I miss her dearly as we all will,” she concluded. “May she rest in peace.”

Carole King also shared a photo of the late "Coal Miner's Daughter" singer, adding, "She was an inspiration."

Billy Ray Cyrus tweeted, "Celebrating the life of Loretta Lynn. One of my highest honors was being joined by her and George Jones on a song I wrote called 'Country Music Has The Blues'. She handed me this wonderful gift on that day."

LeAnn Rimes Remembers The 'Legacy She Leaves Behind'

LeAnn Rimes shared a fifteen-second video, adding, "loretta lynn paved the way for so many of us women in country music. what a legacy she leaves behind."

Trace Adkins tweeted, "The poet that could contextualize her life has yet to be born. I’ll cherish the memories of the times I was in her presence. Rest In peace, darling."

Rosanne Cash also shared a video, tweeting, "Oh, man. Rest in all kinds of power, Loretta Lynn. We'll miss you. Here's a clip a friend just sent me of @kdlang and me doing Loretta's 'You Ain't Woman Enough' in 1988."

Sesame Street and The Muppets Also Paid Tribute To The Late Legend

Not only did Loretta perform on stage, but she also made notable appeances on "The Muppet Show" and "Sesame Street."

The official Muppets Twitter account tweeted, "Working with our friend Loretta Lynn was unforgettable. Not only was she a country music legend, but when she joined us on The Muppet Show, she proved she was game for almost anything – even putting on an entire show at a train station! Thanks for the music and memories, Loretta."

Sesame Street also tweeted out a 3-minute video of her singing with the Count. They tweeted, "Thank you for always being that friend we could count on, Loretta Lynn."
