In the aftermath of rapper Coolio's tragic passing last week, his longtime girlfriend Mimi Ivey is opening up about his burial plans and revealing the rapper's wishes.
As you might know, the "Gangsta's Paradise" artist passed away on September 28 at the age of 59 in mysterious circumstances and has been missed greatly.
Coolio Wanted To Be Cremated, No Funeral Service
Mimi, who has been dating the late rapper for over a decade, spoke about her unique relationship with Coolio in an exclusive interview with the Daily Mail. The television personality spoke to the publication about her immense grief while revealing the instructions her late partner left as regards his death.
Mimi shared that the "Fantastic Voyage" rapper didn’t want a lavish funeral service. "I'm respecting his wishes. He wanted to be cremated. He did not want a funeral; he did not want a memorial service. He didn't want any of that," the video vixen confessed.
The "Love Goals" star didn’t give more details about Coolio’s posthumous wishes or when he would be cremated. However, a source confirmed to the publication that there would be a cremation service to honor the legendary rapper.
Invitations to the intimate ceremony are said to be so streamlined that even many of Coolio’s longtime friends and acquaintances in the industry won’t attend. The insider believes that the low-key nature of the service is to ward off any fights that might break out between Coolio’s baby mamas, mistresses, or exes.
The late Grammy winner was a proud father of 10 children from several women — with some of his baby mamas unknown. Coolio had four children with his first and only wife Josefa Salinas. He also welcomed his youngest child with his ex-girlfriend Annabella Chatman in 2009.
The rapper had no child with Mimi.
Coolio & Mimi Had A Unique Romance That Involved Infidelity
In the interview, Mimi gave insight into the close bond she shared with the entertainer she called her husband, even though they were never legally married. The reality star even took his last name. The 41-year-old described the late artist as her "best friend."
"We were best friends. We would talk about everything and joke and laugh about everything. There was never a dull moment being with him," she explained. The mother-of-three who described Coolio as "eccentric" and a "storyteller" recalled the heartbreaking moment she found out the love of her life had passed.
In her words, "I just remember all of the air and life coming out of my body. I was outside, getting ready to take my son to football practice. All I remember was dropping to my knees. I collapsed."
Mimi and Coolio’s relationship dates back to 2004 when they first met, and the exotic dancer wasn’t feeling him. However, when they were re-introduced by a mutual friend seven years down the line, they couldn’t let go of each other.
The television personality recalled the "West Up!" rapper being persistent about dating her, never taking no for an answer. "I just woke up, and he was in my room serving me breakfast in bed. I was a little confused. It's hilarious now, I love having that memory," she explained. "He said, 'You're officially my girl. You're mine. You belong to me. We belong together. It's us.' And I said, 'Okay.'"
As for why they never got married, Mimi disclosed that they were very close to getting the deed done, even filling out all the paperwork at the courthouse. However, they just didn’t go through with it.
"But we just decided not to turn it in It's just a piece of paper that doesn't change how either one of us felt about each other," she divulged. Despite the tight bond they shared, Mimi and Coolio’s romance was often plagued with cheating rumors — something the video vixen doesn’t deny.
It seems the couple who appeared on "Celebrity Wife Swap" was in an open relationship, as Mimi shared that she was well aware Coolio had other women.
"He was who he was. If he was seeing other women, I knew about it," she said. "There's nothing that man ever did that he hid from me. We talked about everything. I knew his whole life. We had no secrets."

Mimi first broke her silence about Coolio’s passing last week in a touching tribute on social media. As The Blast reported, the doting girlfriend shared a montage of lovely pictures set to her late boyfriend’s song "C U When U Get There."
"Words can not express the pain that I am feeling right now," she began her heartfelt message. "You are my soul mate, hubby, lover & best friend I’m so happy that you called me on FaceTime at 2 am and woke me up out of my sleep to tell me you love me and miss me."
Mimi mourned her man, saying she wouldn’t have let him off the phone if she knew it would be the last conversation they would have.
RIP.
