"Kenan & Kel" stars Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell are paying tribute to Coolio after he passed away suddenly on Wednesday, September 28.
In 1996, Ken and Kel received their own original sitcom after appearing on the Nickelodeon sketch-comedy series “All That.” The show, set in Chicago, followed the adventures of the two high school friends and aired for four years: from July 15, 1996, until July 15, 2000.
Although the show featured some notable guest stars, the opening theme, “Aw, Here It Goes” was actually created by Coolio.

On Wednesday night, Kenan posted an Instagram Story lamenting the news of Coolio's passing. In another slide, the "Saturday Night Live" alum wrote, "D--- homie!!! Rest in Power!!!"
The "Gangsta's Paradise" rapper, 59, passed away while visiting a friend's house in Los Angeles. According to his manager, Jarez Posey, the friend found Coolio unresponsive in his bathroom and called paramedics around 4 PM local time.
EMTs reportedly found no signs of life when they arrived on the scenes. Sources told TMZ that paramedics continued to perform CPR on the rapper “for 3/4 of an hour before concluding it was futile.” No drug paraphernalia was found at the scene.
Immediately after he passed away, many of Coolio's fans, famous friends, and other musicians took to social media to pay tribute to the great talent. Kel Mitchell wrote a lengthy tribute to the late rapper on Instagram, where he shared several videos and photos of the "West Up!" rapper.
"Rest in Heaven @coolio ! We recently spoke a few months ago laughing and having such a good time," Kel recalled in the caption. "So many great memories with you bro! That time first meeting you on 'All That' cracking up in a Good Burger Sketch then you bringing me on stage after your performance to freestyle. Then later creating the legendary Kenan and Kel theme song for @kenanthompson and I."

"That time you heard about the Good Burger Pop up in Los Angeles and you hit me and the team up and said you wanted to make it part of your birthday weekend and we chopped it up!"
"Last thing you told me when we last spoke a few months ago you told me you loved how I keep things positive and to keep doing that. I will Coolio and thank you for sharing your light and your talent with us all and thank you for inspiring so many in your lyrics," he concluded. "Be at peace in the hands of our Heavenly Father and praying God comforts your family during this time. Much love bro!!!"
Many fans and followers echoed his message of condolences. “I’ll never forget the Kenan & Kel theme song!” one fan commented. “Prayers out to the friends and family affected by his passing,” another follower wrote. “Praying for him, his family and all who loved him,” a third fan chimed in.
