The never-ending and hilarious fake feud bromance between Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds is now taking itself up another notch. The various fun pranks and trolling that they do to each other is the stuff of internet legend.
And now all of that is continuing in one of the most exciting ways with the recent announcement on Ryan Reynolds’s Instagram of them working together again. Working together in such a fashion that it is leaving Marvel fans in a full state of complete bliss.
Ryan Reynolds & Hugh Jackman To Complete ‘Bromance Sandwich’
Back in March of 2022, ‘The Adam Project’ Director Shawn Levy who will also be directing ‘Deadpool 3’ spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about his dreams of putting Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman together on screen again as he gushed that he wanted to take their chemistry and, “fold it all in together and make a big, fat bromance sandwich of a movie because the world wants the Hugh Jackman-Ryan Reynolds movie. I don’t know exactly what it’s going to be, but I know it needs to be me who directs it.” At the time, Levy didn’t spill what that film would actually be, but his thoughts were true, as many fans of the duo wanted to see them together on screen.
How did they begin their friendship and gain so much chemistry with each other? During a 2020 interview with The Daily Beast, Jackman spoke on how things started between himself and Reynolds mentioning, “I met [Ryan Reynolds] back on [X-Men Origins:]Wolverine, and I used to ream him because I was very close friends with Scarlett [Johansson], and Scarlett had just married Ryan, so when he came on set I was like, ‘Hey, you better be on your best behavior here, pal, because I’m watching,’ and we started ribbing each other that way, and then it all escalated with the Deadpool thing and him calling me out and trying to manipulate me through social media to do what he wanted.”
That led to years and years of having it out for each other to varying degrees of hilarity, that you can see the history of here. Amazingly they have used it all for good by having us all laugh, incorporating their feud to help in various charities and so much more. So it is very exciting to see the latest news that has been released from them both that will likely continue the fake feud for years to come.
Hugh Jackman Initially Retired Wolverine Character
Jackman has been back and forth on returning to the role of Wolverine but it seemed all but finished when he mentioned his thoughts of leaving the character behind telling the Dr. Oz show when he was talking about Wolverine 3 that became Logan at the time saying, “It just felt like it was the right time to do it. And let’s be honest, 17 years. I never thought in a million years it would last, so I’m so grateful to the fans for the opportunity of playing it. … I kind of have in my head what we’re going to do in this last one. It just feels like this is the perfect way to go out.”
He also spoke to EW on the subject saying he talked to Jerry Seinfeld who told him to leave the character with a little gas left in the tank and said about his future with the character after that discussion what he was thinking as he mentioned, “I’m quite indecisive, but when I get that gut feeling, it’s kind of a relief to me. When I met my wife, I knew. With the kids, I knew. When I was talking to Jerry that day, I was like, ‘Oh, yeah.'”
But thankfully it seems that indecisive nature of his brought him back, and with a little help from Ryan Reynolds, they got the band back together!

After many thought that Jackman was no longer going to play the character of the Wolverine, leave it to Ryan Reynolds to make everyone happy with his latest Instagram message declaring that Jackman will indeed return to the character he has been playing since 2000’s X-Men film.
Reynolds deadpanned in his video reveal on Instagram that you can see above that had Jackman appear in the background. Matter of factly Reynolds said towards the end of the message, “Hey, Hugh. You wanna play Wolverine one more time?” As Jackman walked up the stairs behind him. Hugh met Reynolds’s question with a quick reply saying, “Yeah. Sure, Ryan!”
Then the magical voice of Whitney Houston began to play from her song, “I Will Always Love You.” where there were a few more fun jabs at Jackman to fully sell the announcement and continue to land the jokes they were going for. It all came together amazingly well, and has now got the entire internet in a joyous tizzy! Superhero fans and the MCU are rejoicing because an announcement like this needed to happen since they have to deliver as this will be the first Deadpool film in the Marvel and MCU Universe.
The way things are looking, it seems that all will be going well. And they have plenty of time to figure it all out as the duo will be seen on screen when the film debuts on Sept. 6, 2024. Makes us ask, can we get our tickets now?
