Kelsea Ballerini has switched things up to reference her current life path.
Despite her cheery outlook, the country singer has been fighting severe personal battles, including filing for divorce from Morgan Evans last month. What she described as a "deeply difficult decision" has set her life on a new path which she addressed during her Heartfirst tour in New York over the weekend.
Kelsea Ballerini Alters Some Lyrics To Address Her Thoughts Amid Divorce From Morgan Evans
Per a report from PEOPLE, when Ballerini stopped over at a New York City concert on Saturday evening, she switched up the lyrics to some of her songs. The 29-year-old did that so she could talk about her split from Evans.
To kick off, the songwriter changed some lyrics from her single "What I Have," where instead of singing, "I got a warm body in bed," she belted out, "I got my own body in bed." Next, when performing "Get Over Yourself," she belted out, "I'm the crazy b*tch that wrecked your life," instead of, "I'm the crazy ex that wrecked your life." Ballerini also changed the words in her song "Miss Me More."
The Billboard Women in Music "Rising Star" winner ended her set with "Doin' My Best," a song from her upcoming album that seemed to reference her marital problems with her 37-year-old ex and falling out with her former friend and singer Halsey. She sang:
"I was friends with a pop star / I put 'em on track four but / Wish I could take it back; I would've never asked / If I knew we wouldn't talk anymore."
While speaking on those lyrics, Ballerini claimed that she was "human" and there were some things that she "wanted to take ownership for."[SIC] The "Peter Pan" hitmaker also said despite the embarrassing and cringey nature of the songs, it all counted as her "human experience."

As for her divorce from Evans, The Blast noted that Ballerini announced the life-altering news via an Instagram Story statement. After stating that she was sharing the information with fans based on her "openness" with them, the "half of my hometown" musician continued:
"This deeply difficult decision is the result of a journey of love, growth, and effort that ultimately has come to an end."
She added that even though it was difficult to "find the words here, she felt "extremely grateful for the years of marriage" she and Evans had. For the concluding part of her message, the singer appealed to supporters to be "mindful" that she and her ex were "both fragile, actively healing, and showing up the best we can."
The former romantic pair was first introduced at an award show in March 2016. What followed was sparks flying between them and an alleged first kiss at the same event. By November, Ballerini and Evans became red carpet official, appearing in coordinating outfits for the 2016 Country Music Association Award.
The pair announced their engagement the following month and married a year later in December 2017. Their wedding ceremony, which was held in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, was "tequila-themed." It also had just 100 of the couple's close friends and family in attendance.
After the ceremony, Evans revealed that their handwritten vows were the real star, as he could not get over how beautiful his bride's vows were.
Ballerini Unveils Her Emotional, Heartbroken Side To Her Millions Of Fans
Earlier this month, Ballerini showed fans an emotional side of herself. The Blast shared that the "Roses" singer uploaded a TikTok video that showed her wrapping her arms around her knees as she sat in a bathtub listening to sad music.
The country-pop star wore only a heart-shaped necklace with eyeliner and mascara — that appeared smudged around her eyes, a tell-tale sign that she had been crying. Ballerini wrote "Complex" under the video "Complex" as she lip-synched to the ballad of the same name sung by Katie Gregson-MacLeod.
Although the "Dibs" singer did not say anything in the video, the lyrics "I'm wearing his boxers / I'm being a good wife / We won't be together / But maybe the next life" was a clear pointer to how she felt about ending her five-year marriage to Evans.
The clip evoked an emotional response from her followers, with one person telling her, "It's not "The End." It's just the end of one chapter. Time for a new start."
