Replying to Grande’s Instagram story, the "Harriet" actress reposted this post on her own Instagram Story and wrote, "I love you too, @arianagrande." How cute !!!

It seems that these two have bonded over the production of the movie. Back in April, The Blast reported that there was quite an uproar from fans when it was announced that a major Broadway hit was to be adapted into a movie.

It stirred even more uproar when Grande and Erivo were announced as cast members of the movie. Grande will act as Glinda, The Good Witch, while Erivo will play Elphaba, "The Wicked Witch of the West," which on Broadway was played by Idina Menzel.

There was a greater outrage when the Director of the movie, John M. Chu, announced that the movie would be split into two parts, meaning there’d be two separate movies. In a somewhat detailed post, he explained why the movie would be split into two parts.

'The Wicked' Faces Backlash From Fans

Chu wrote, "SPECIAL WICKED UPDATE/ Thank you for all the support these past several months in anticipation of the WICKED movie. We have so many exciting things to share, but for now, I’m giving you one… or two, rather."

He went on to reveal reasons why the movie would have two parts.

“As we prepared this production over the last year, it became increasingly clear that it would be impossible to wrestle the story of WICKED into a single film without doing some real damage to it. As we tried to cut songs or trim characters, those decisions began to feel like fatal compromises to the source material that has entertained us. All for so many years,” he continued. “So we decided to give ourselves a bigger canvas and make not just one WICKED movie but TWO!!!! With more space, we can tell the story of WICKED as it was meant to be told while bringing even more depth and surprise to the journeys of these beloved characters."

In trying to appeal to the fans, the movie director concluded the post by guaranteeing everyone that he and the cast would put in their best to make sure that the movie is no less than “an experience that honors its foundation for all the fans who’ve waited."

Did fans take the news lightly? We don’t think so. Several fans gathered in the comments to vent out their disapproval.

One person commented, "Have you considered just making one two-and-a-half hour movie? Why are film studios and directors so opposed to just taking a stage show and not cutting anything? If it can fit on stage for one evening, there’s no reason. It can’t be the same on film. Makes no sense."

The upcoming film will be produced under Universal Pictures and is an adaptation of the award-winning Broadway musical "Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch Of The West" which was first published in 1995 by Gregory Maguire.

Per reports,  initially, the award-winning director and producer Stephen Daldry was reportedly chosen to be the director of the movie, but he called it quits for undisclosed reasons.
