The wedding, which was officiated by her on-screen uncle, played by Jesse Tyler Ferguson, was originally meant to hold in 2020, due to COVID-19 restrictions, they had to push the wedding back.

Speaking on how they met, Hyland made the revelation in an interview on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" of how Adams slid into her DM. "I thought he was funny, and he was a fan of my show. I saw him as the bartender, and I was like, That's really cute!" she admitted. Adding that, she felt his approach was the right balance of sexy and not at all aggressive.

Fans of the duo will recall that in 2019 the 38-year-old asked her to marry him with a beachfront proposal. Hyland shared the pictures on Instagram, featuring her non-husband on one knee with the ring in his hands as she held her hands to her mouth in shock.

Ferguson shared the details of his impromptu duties during the wedding of his former "Modern Family" co-star. The Blast reported that the 46-year-old brought his fun-loving personality as he officiated the wedding.

It turns out that the duty was thrust upon him as the person initially meant to do it was unable to. The "Web Therapy" actor revealed to ET that Ty Burrell was initially meant to officiate but could not due to a family emergency.

Burrell, who played Hyland's dad in the series, was given the honor due to how close they had become over the years. Ferguson recounted that he got a phone call 12 days before the wedding, and that's why the father-of-two was not there; "he had stuff going on."

He also mentioned that while panicking about the commitment, he reached out to Burrell to receive some much-needed pointers. Explaining why he panicked, he said:

"it's going to be a wedding, and it's going to be in Vogue magazine, and there's also going to be paparazzi shots of me from a helicopter, officiating, no pressure."

He ended by noting that they had no problem comparing notes to come up with what was best for her big day and that it was an honor to be able to understudy the 55-year-old veteran actor and officiate the occasion.
