Luke Bryan and his wife, Caroline, have certainly dealt with their fair share of emotional ups and downs over the years, but are taking it all in stride. In 2000, Bryan lost his brother to a tragic car accident, only to then lose his sister seven years later. Unfortunately, both had kids.

To make matters worse, his sister's widower passed away in 2014, leaving three children that didn't have parents or guidance in their lives anymore. Bryan and his wife were up to the task, though, and adopted the three.

Speaking with ABC News, Luke and Caroline opened up about the struggle and emotional toll in a very candid and raw interview, although, they both admit that it has been a blessing in disguise.

The country star and his wife believed that adopting the children was simply the right thing to do. And while two of the children are in college, Til, is a teenager, who has joined the Bryan family, along with the couple's two other children.

"We never thought twice about it," Caroline told host Robin Roberts. "You know, it was never something that he and I had to sit down and talk about. ‘Should we take this on?’ We just did that" And while they don't regret deciding to raise Til, it's taken some getting used to.

Luke and Caroline had two young children of their own before Til came into the picture, leading to a complete shift in the dynamics of the family. Bryan claims that he and Til are close now, but sometimes he gets tested.

"We’re buddies now, though, kinda," Bryan joked during the interview. "Until he makes me … that’s when I get onto him, I’m like, 'All right, you’re making me be an adult; don’t make me be an adult!'" According to the singer and songwriter, it's been about striking the delicate balance between raising a teenager and someone who is becoming an adult before their eyes.

"I woke up one day and I’m raising a teen," he had previously told People Magazine. "And it’s a challenge because my main thing with Til is just properly giving the right amount of advice and realizing you’re talking to someone who is becoming an adult. I have to be that parent role where if he does something, he needs to get in trouble, but I want to be a friend to him too."

Regardless of the situation that the couple has been put in by taking on raising a teenager, they say that everything has been positive in the experience. "We woke up and had a teenager in our midst, but we love it," he continued with People. "It’s nothing but positive. Til is having a blast and I think he’s finally settled in being in Nashville."

As for some of tougher parental responsibilities? It seems that Luke and Caroline are having to monitor his social media usage, as well as, the grades he's making in school. "We’re having to watch grades and watch Instagram and Snapchat and keep him from being on that all day long," Bryan revealed.

"It’s interesting because he’ll be a boy one minute and he’ll act like a man the next, so you just try to help him make good decisions and study hard and be respectful and try to do your best to raise them right." The good thing for Luke and Caroline, though, is they'll have plenty of experience with raising teenagers when their two youngest finally reach the ripe age of adolescence.
