Tyler Perry is opening up about his adoration for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle!
The renowned actor, best known for his sensational portrayal of the fictional character Madea, recently shared details about his friendship with the royal pair.
The trio's closeness first made headlines after the filmmaker offered his home to the couple when they stepped down from their roles as working members of the British Royal Family in 2020.
Tyler Perry Shares Why He Helped The Duke And Duchess Of Sussex
When it comes to love, the Hollywood veteran has experienced his fair share of romances. If these relationships have taught Perry anything, it is to recognize true love when he sees it.
The "Madea's Family Reunion" star opened up about love during his recent appearance on the TODAY show. The 53-year-old initially dropped by to promote his new film "A Jazzman Blues," but the hosts had other plans.
News anchors Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager strayed from the main topic to inquire about the viral moment when Perry turned his Los Angeles home into a sanctuary for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Recalling the bittersweet memories, the New Orleans native explained that it was an extremely "difficult time" for Prince Harry and his wife. As aforementioned, the pair stepped down from their royal family duties and moved to the US.
As the couple navigated their new terrain under the public's scrutiny, Perry noted that the lovebirds survived the harrowing experience thanks to their undeniable feelings for each other. In the filmmaker's words:
"What I know about the two of them that I wish the world knew is how much they love. These two people love each other. They found each other. Out of all these odds against them finding each other, they found each other."
This wonderful romance shared by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex motivated Perry to open the doors of his home to them as he wanted to do anything to support the couple.
Naturally, seeing this fantastic relationship upfront had a positive impact on the Primetime Emmy Award winner. The 53-year-old confessed that his relationship standards had skyrocketed because of the royal pair.
The actor added, "If I don't have that, what she and Harry have, I don't want it — that's what's really amazing." This revelation seemed like a warning to single ladies as they would need to be as charming as the woman who swooped a real Prince off his feet to be on the media mogul's radar.
Surprisingly, Markle had not met the New Orlean native in person before moving into his home. As shared by The Blast, the former actress dropped the bombshell in a recent interview.
The Duchess of Sussex revealed that the Broadway alum first reached out to her following her 2019 wedding to Prince Harry. The filmmaker assured the former entertainer that he would be in her corner if the need arose.
According to the 41-year-old, Perry stated that he knew what her marriage signified and would keep her in his prayers. Two years later, these words finally showed their merit when Markle needed help.
At the time, the "Suits" star and her husband ran out of options as their decision to no longer be senior working members of the Royal family came with backlash.
The pair was financially cut from the royals, and their location in Vancouver, Canada, was leaked to the press. Amid their uncertain future, the "Nobody's Fool" producer welcomed them with open arms.
The Hollywood Walk Of Fame Honoree Wants More Diversity In The Industry
From his Madea franchise to the critically acclaimed movies he has produced, Perry has always showcased the best talents in the Black community. The Blast previously reported that the TV personality confessed that his dream for more diversity in Hollywood inspired the 53-year-old to create more projects in his community.
The father-of-one noted that he actively worked on creating opportunities for Black people in the industry. However, the entertainer hoped that pushing for diversity did not diminish talent.
Perry noted that sometimes people might be pushed into seats they were unprepared for because of diversity. Nonetheless, the BET Ultimate Icon honoree believed training people for these positions would make the community thrive.
