Meghan Markle is opening up about her relationship with media mogul Tyler Perry and how he created a safe haven for her during a difficult time for her and her husband Prince Harry.
As you might know, Harry and Meghan stayed in Perry’s mansion for most of the 2020 pandemic following their controversial exit from the Royal family as senior working members. However, their relationship preceding that decision wasn’t the tightest, according to the Duchess of Sussex.

In a recent interview done with The CUT, Meghan looked back at her and Harry’s decision to no longer be senior working members of the Royal family following a six-week holiday in Vancouver, Canada, that became more permanent. While in Canada, the pair decided to take a step back from royalty, but their decision was met with a lot of resistance.
As Meghan and Harry discussed in their bombshell sit-down with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021, following their announcement, their security was stripped from them, and they were left to sort out themselves financially after being cut off from the Royal family.
Things became even worse when the British press leaked their location in Vancouver, and Meghan and Harry could see men with cameras watching their residence. The former “Suits” alum told the publication that at the time, the Canadian-U.S. border was about to be closed due to the COVID-19 virus, and they were running out of options.
That was when Meghan decided to call in a favor from Perry. She shared that when she married Harry in 2018, the “Madea” actor, who she had never met in person, sent a message to encourage her. The duchess recalled that the world-renowned producer informed her that he was praying for her and “that he understood what this meant.”
She explained that Perry was referring to the symbolic weight of their wedding and “that he could only imagine what it was like.” Concluding, he urged Meghan to reach out to him if she ever needed support or advice. The former actress held on to the “A Fall For Grace” star’s words, but it wasn’t easy to call in the favor, she admits.

Meghan noted that it took her a while to talk to Perry, but before she knew it, she was telling him all about what had gone down in their lives. “Sometimes, you can tell your life story to a stranger on a plane as opposed to some of the people that are closest to you,” she shared.
As The Blast formerly reported, Harry and Meghan stayed at Perry’s Hollywood Hills Mansion, which is worth a whopping $18 million. The huge property, which seats on 22 acres of land, boasts 8 bedrooms, 12 bathrooms, and includes a massive 24,545 sqft of living space.

Harry and Meghan have since moved into a home of their own in Montecito worth $14.65 million, but their bond with Perry has remained ever strong, as evident by a massive grand piano that sits in their home — a housewarming gift from the “Acrimony” creator.
Earlier this month, on August 5, when Meghan turned 41, Perry dedicated a heartfelt tribute to his good friend on Instagram. He shared a heartwarming photo of the Royal planting a sweet kiss on a young girl’s hand during one of their royal tours.

The duchess stunned in an all-black ensemble and crouched as she interacted with the young black girl. Perry had nothing but praises for Meghan in the accompanying caption, writing, “I’ve had a front row seat in your life for the past few years. I’ve watched you endure things that would have broken a lot of people.”
He continued, “I’m so incredibly proud to see how happy you, your husband, and your kids are now. It fills me with joy to say Happy Birthday Princess Meghan.”
