Meghan Markle Allegedly Requested 1-On-1 With King Charles III To 'Clear The Air'

The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, wants to end unresolved issues with the royals.

The "Suits" alum and her husband, prince Harry attended the burial of Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away at age 96. The pair seem to have set aside their unresolved issues with the royals during the mourning period.

However, per reports, the Duchess sees her time in the country as an opportunity to speak with the new King to clear the air on a number of issues. There are no details on whether her request will be granted ahead of her and Harry's return to their home base.

According to Page Six, Markle sought a meeting with the new monarch, King Charles III, before her departure from the U.K. Per the publication, an anonymous royal staff gave a tip to the royal/entertainment correspondent Neil Sean. The latter took the liberty of sharing in a YouTube Video.

Sean said in the video that Markle wanted the meeting with King Charles III to "clear the air, put the rights from wrongs, and explain some of the rationale behind what they've been doing over the previous two years," in addition to addressing a number of concerns.

"She'd now like, before they return back to California, to have a one-to-one audience with King Charles III," Neil Sean shared in a YouTube video, per Page Six.

"That's right, Markle, one-to-one with King Charles III. You heard correct."

Sean further said that Markle requested the meeting formally, writing a letter to his office instead of just showing up at a random time.

The Duchess of Sussex was in the country to attend Queen Elizabeth's funeral, who was her husband's maternal grandmother. Several leaders from across the world, including the president of the United States, Joe Biden, attended the funeral on Monday.

The Duchess came alone for the ceremony as her husband, Prince Harry, took part in the Queen's funeral procession from Westminster Hall to Westminster Abbey. The pair later reunited following the march, just before the church service came into full swing.

She donned a different hue of the Stella McCartney dress she wore for the Queen's 92nd birthday and the pearl and diamond earrings the late monarch gave her.

The chic outfit complied with the funeral's dress code, which stipulated that attendees should wear knee-length black dresses or coats, black caps, and optional veils.

Harry and Prince Williams appeared to put their differences aside for the funeral as they were photographed taking part in various ceremonies in the Queen's honor and chatting with one another on several occasions.

Rumors of a rift between the brothers initially surfaced in 2019 when they divided their residences due to differing notions concerning Harry's position. Following that, the brothers' feud escalated to a new height in 2020 when Harry and his wife forfeited their royal privileges and honor to move to the U.S.

While the brothers appear to have made a temporary truce at this point, Markle and her other sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, have maintained their previous icy distance throughout the course of the royal events by declining to engage in any conversations beyond polite small talk as soon as they arrived at the palace.

Harry and Markle's relationship with the royal household further worsened following the shocking interview the pair gave to Oprah Winfrey in March 2021 when they accused an unidentified royal of racism.

Despite the burial appearing to bring about a sense of serenity, when Harry's forthcoming memoir eventually comes out, things can quickly return to their tumultuous state. Royal historians have theorized that the book's information may expose specifics about the prince's conflicts with the royal family and hope he will reconsider releasing it.

"We know that he's delayed it to change things, add things, we just don't know whether he's going to change it for the better or, the worse," a royal expert Claudia Joseph, said per The News.

It remains to be seen if Harry will change his mind, as the release of the book might be the final act that shuts him off completely from the royal family.
