"I finally feel the baby so I don't need to text my doc for a daily drive by ultrasound anymore," the cookbook author tweeted. She's also been showing off her growing baby bump on Instagram, giving her fans a glimpse into her life as a mom-to-be. Also mom to Luna, 6, and Miles, 4, Teigen and husband John Legend told their children about the new baby early on in the pregnancy.
Luna And Miles Have Known About The Baby Since Early On
Teigen recently told PEOPLE that her kids knew about the new baby early on and are "very excited" about the family's new addition. "Since we did IVF [in-vitro fertilization] we knew probably nine days after we did the transfer that it had worked and we were pregnant. I told them very, very early," she explained. "They knew that I was going in for the transfer, that we were going to go in and put this egg inside Mommy's belly. So they knew from the very, very beginning, and they knew there was a chance it might not work because that's happened before."
Teigen added that since her kids have known about the baby for so long that the pregnancy might feel really long to them. "They've been excited for a long time," she said. "I feel like this is going to be the longest pregnancy to them because they've known since the day."
Teigen Discussed The Heartbreaking Decisions She Had To Make During Her 2020 Pregnancy
In August, the couple announced on Instagram that they are expecting a rainbow baby after suffering a tragic pregnancy loss almost two years prior. Teigen recently opened up about the decision she was faced with during her 2020 pregnancy while speaking at Propper Daley's "A Day of Unreasonable Conversation" summit last week. According to Entertainment Tonight, Teigen said, "Two years ago, when I was pregnant with Jack, john and my third child, I had to make a lot of difficult and heartbreaking decisions. It became very clear around halfway through that he would not survive, and that I wouldn't either without any medical intervention."
When speaking about her devastating loss in the past, Teigen called it a pregnancy loss, but at last week's event, clarified that it was a life-saving abortion. "Let's just call it what it was: It was an abortion. An abortion to save my life for a baby that had absolutely no chance," she explained. "And to be honest, I never, ever put that together until, actually, a few months ago."
Teigen said she came to the realization shortly after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in June. "I fell silent, feeling weird that I hadn't made sense of it that way," she said. "I told the world we had a miscarriage, the world agreed we had a miscarriage, all the headlines said it was a miscarriage. And I became really frustrated that I didn't, in the first place, say what it was, and I felt silly that it had taken me over a year to actually understand we had had an abortion."
