Sandra Oh Attends Queen Elizabeth II's Funeral As Part of Official Canadian Delegation

Canadian actress Sandra Oh was part of an official Canadian delegation at the funeral of the late Queen Elizabeth II this week.

As noted by The Hollywood Reporter, the Canada-born Oh ("Killing Eve," "Grey's Anatomy") attended the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II this week due to her being a recipient of the Order of Canada, which is the highest honor for a Canadian civilian. The official Canadian delegation at the service that Oh was a part of was personally led by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

While Sandra Oh is known for her prominent work in Hollywood film and television, she was born in Ottawa. Earlier in June, she was named as an officer of the Order of Canada by Governor General of Canada Mary Simon, who is the representative of Canada for the late queen, which is also part of the Commonwealth.

Sandra Oh was one of the few actors notably in attendance at Queen Elizabeth II's service. Viewers were likely naturally curious, so her being part of an official Canadian delegation was the reason as to why.

Following Queen Elizabeth II's passing on September 8, Oh was named as part of the Canadian delegation on September 15 by Prime Minister Trudeau. Oh took part in the procession along with other recipients who received Order of Canada honor, including Olympic athlete and gold medal winner Mark Tewksbury, musician Gregory Charles, and Cross of Valour recipient Leslie Arthur Palmer.

Oh wrote on her own Instagram account about serving as part of the delegation. The actress wrote in the caption of her post, "Proud to represent [Canada] w/ my fellow Order of Canada & Valour recipients @gregorycharlesofficiel @marktewks @palmerlp26 at Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's funeral at Westminster Abbey today."

Oh became a dual Canada and US citizen in 2018. She marked her first anniversary of earning her American citizenship while hosting an episode of "Saturday Night Live" in March 2018. As noted by THR, Oh owns homes in both Los Angeles, California, and her home country of Ottawa, which is the capital of the nation of Canada.

The Order of Canada, similar to Britain's own honors system, recognizes Canadian civilians who make "extraordinary contributions to the nation." Oh received the honor earlier this year from the Governor General of Canada's Office for her "artistic career filled with memorable stage, television and film roles in Canada and abroad."

Previously, Oh was part of the long-running, hit HBO television series "Arli$$," where she portrayed Rita Wu, the personal assistant for sports agent Arliss Michael (Robert Wuhl) for every episode. She would later go on to join the cast of the hit ABC show, "Grey's Anatomy," for which she received six Emmy nominations for her performance as Cristina Yang.

Oh later joined the cast of TV's "Killing Eve" in 2018 in the role of Eve Polastri. She has also received multiple Primetime Emmy Award nominations for her work on the show.

Some of her film work includes the acclaimed 2004 film "Sideways," and she also voiced Meilin's mother Ming in the Pixar animated feature, "Turning Red," released earlier this year.  She is also currently voicing Debbie Grayson in the hit Amazon Prime animated series, "Invincible."
