Sky Days have had a rocky relationship with her two sons over the years. When Sky was a teenager, she gave her sons up for adoption and has not spoken to them in 15 years. Recently Days wanted to reconnect with her sons, Genasis and Dessaline “Dess.” Days decided to do so through Black Ink Crew. Day’s youngest son Dess was very receptive to her coming back into the picture. Upon Day’s return, he hugged her and embraced her coming back. He has even said on occasions that he had forgiven her.

Her older son Genesis felt the complete opposite. Due to some pent-up anger and resentment, Days and her older son came close to brawling it out the first time they met each other. It was a very dark and dramatic meeting. Genesis was very hurt and angry by his mother and her decisions as a mother and woman. Fans felt that Days did not do much to strengthen her weltering relationship with her sons and jumped in on social media. There was also speculation that Days was reuniting with her sons to exploit their damaged relationship for television ratings.

Dess initially felt quite the opposite and seemed hopeful that he and his mother could build on top of lost time. Unfortunately, it looks like there were moments on Black Ink Crew where Dess confronted his mother about his feelings of being let down. However, their relationship became damaged due to no resolution. This leads to a heartbreaking moment in which their disagreement is turning to an argument filled with verbal lashings. Their argument jumps over boundaries into the realm of verbal, mental, and emotional abuse by both. At one point, Days yells to her son that she did not want him, and she wished he was never born.

As the argument subsides, Dez explains that he is broken by the things his mother said out of anger. Dez says, “You’re my mother. I came from you. If I hurt you, I didn’t mean to hurt you. Like, you hurt me”. It is an emotional, devasting moment as viewers watch ‘hurt people hurt people’ play out on screen. Black Ink Crew fans are left stunned. Fans are left trying to imagine how traumatic it must have been to hear your parents tell you they wish you were never born. Especially while cameras roll for viewers nationwide.

It is safe to say that there is a lot of time and healing that needs to take place with everyone individually and as a unit. This may not be the best time to record and televise their personal issues until professional guidance and help are secured. Black Ink Crew supporters and fans are angry, but very many are concerned and sympathetic. There is hope to not judge Days, but to hope that these emotional blowouts give her clarity and determination to grow as an individual, woman, and as a mother.
