Sofia Vergara has finished the emotional ending of ABC’s Modern Family and is ready for a new entertainment endeavor. Vergara went viral on social media as the actress was seen tearful while filming the final scene of the show which will air later this spring on April 8th. After running on the air for ten years, Modern Family has been crowned as ABC’s longest-running comedy series. Modern Family is averaging 4.087 million views per episode this season, down nearly 15.5% when compared to season nine.

Vergara told to Variety, “I’m so happy to join my new family on AGT, this is a new and exciting next chapter for me and I’m extremely proud to be the first Latin judge on the show. I can’t wait to watch all the talent and have fun with all you guys!” Howie Mandel and Simon Cowell will be returning to the panel with Terry Crews returning as the show’s host. Heidi couldn’t be more excited for the next season of AGT.

Heidi tweeted, “I’m so excited to be back at AGT with Simon, Howie, and Terry! The fact that Sofia is joining us is the icing on an already delicious cake!” Gabrielle Union’s abrupt departure after one season with the show swirled controversy around the show. Variety reported that Gabrielle was subject to a very specific critique naming, “…her rotating hairstyles were ’too black’ for the audience at AGT.” Gabrielle reached out to her fans on Twitter and thanked them for all their support over the past year of the show.

Season 14 winner Kodi Lee performed Harry Style’s ‘Sign of the Times’ on AGT: The Champions, a spin-off show created by Simon, and reminded viewers of his incredible talents. Kodi won the previous season of AGT proving to thrive long past the early age diagnosis of autism. The performer was also born with ‘optic nerve hypoplasia’ which required a life saving surgery when Kodi was only five. The Season 14 winner undoubtedly brought everyone in the room, including the judges to their feet for yet another stellar emotional performance.

Vergara has hosted TV shows in the past dating back to the 90s with shows like Fuera de serie and A que no te atreves. The Modern Family actress was nominated for numerous awards throughout her career and most notably won a Screen Actors Guild Award in 2013 and a 2017 People’s Choice Award for her portrayal of Gloria Delgado-Pritchett in the hit TV comedy. Other than Modern Family, the last TV show that featured Vergara was the 2017 episode of Family Guy “Emmy-Winning Episode,” where she voiced a portrayal of herself.
