Singer Michelle Branch and her husband Patrick Carney are currently in therapy after legally filing to call off their divorce.
On September 13, The Blast obtained new documents that show that the "All You Wanted" singer and the Black Keys drummer were officially calling off their divorce.
In a new statement, it seems that the couple is really fighting to make their marriage last and have headed to therapy to try to start a fresh chapter in their relationship.
Michelle Branch and Husband Patrick Carney Have Started Therapy: 'I Wish That We Had Started It Six Months Ago'
The "Everywhere" singer, 39, said that she wished that they had turned to therapy sooner to work on their relationship amid accusations of infidelity and domestic assault in a clip of Thursday's episode of "The Tamron Hall Show," obtained by PEOPLE.
In the clip, Branch tells host Tamron Hall, “My husband and I have started therapy recently, and I wish that we had started it six months ago. I wish that we had gotten help and talked to someone sooner.”
The "You Get Me" singer praised the benefits of therapy in their relationship, adding that it has "made such a huge difference in such a short amount of time." She encouraged anyone watching to consider marital therapy as well.
“If there’s anyone out there watching … this is your sign,” she said. “If you’ve been thinking about it, go talk to someone.”
Michelle Branch Was Arrested For Domestic Violence Following Bitter Separation
As The Blast previously reported, the "Find Your Way Back" singer had filed for divorce in Tennessee almost a month ago citing irreconcilable differences after she accused the 42-year-old drummer of infidelity.
In the original divorce filing, Branch said that she and Carney “are no longer capable of resuming their marital relationship and living together as husband and wife.” Branch was married once before, to bassist Teddy Landeau, 58, from 2004 to 2015, before she married Carney in 2019.
Only a few days before her arrest, Branch had accused Carney of cheating on her while he was on tour. At the time, she was home with their son Rhys James, 4, and their daughter, Willie, who is only seven months old.
Branch allegedly slapped her husband during an argument, which led to her arrest for domestic assault. Although she was initially due in a Tennessee Court at the beginning of November to address the charges, they have since been dismissed.
'I Slapped My Husband. Not The Finest Moment Of My Life'
During her conversation with Tamron Hall, the "Are You Happy Now?" singer briefly touched on the "unfortunate" circumstances around her arrest, but did not touch on her husband's alleged infidelity directly.
After saying that therapy "helped us immensely," Branch explained, "That night … what went down is so unfortunate. It was the worst night of my life."
"And then to have it out in the world as I’m about to put out a record has been a lot, but all I can do is just be honest about what I’m going through and what’s going on," she confessed. "I’m not the first person to have gone through this.”
Branch was clear about what she was done, saying, "I slapped my husband. Not the finest moment of my life." She said, "I don't condone violence" while at the same time admitting, "They are not allegations."
Branch circled back around to discuss the importance of therapy, adding, “Maybe this will give us the tools to have a stronger marriage than we’ve ever had. We’re rolling up our sleeves and doing the work, which never sounds like fun, but we’re doing it.”
Fans Are Looking Forward To New Music From Michelle Branch!
Fans have been speculating that her new song, “Not My Lover,” is really a diss track about her husband. In one Instagram post teasing the song shared on August 22, a blue screen reads, “Love wasn’t the case so say it to my face. Say it to my face.”
A second Instagram post shows Branch lying on an old TV with a microphone in her hand. The caption reads, “When you said you didn’t love her, you were just a liar.”
Her latest album, The Trouble With Fever, is set for release on Friday, September 16.
