Demi Lovato Challenged As 'Booty Chin' Photo Goes Viral

Demi Lovato mostly received praise as she took to Instagram on Monday to honor the platform's "Makeup Free Monday" hashtag. The 27-year-old singer wrote that it was "important to show myself underneath it all" as she stripped off the warpaint and posted a stunning, bare-faced selfie.

Over 3.1 million likes have been left to the simple snapshot showing the "Sorry Not Sorry" singer gazing deep into the camera and showing off a blemish-free and freckled face. The post has proven viral enough in nature to make The Daily Mail's headlines – here, however, the singer appeared to be challenged over her caption.

The image showed Demi shot close up and wearing a black zip-up jacket. The star had her brown hair swept away from her face and her stripped-down face contrasted the heavy makeup looks usually seen on her Instagram.

"Haven’t done a #NoMakeupMonday in yearssss but I figured after posting so many glamorous pics with tons of makeup and hairpieces, it’s important to show myself underneath it all," Demi wrote, adding:

"This is what I look like 85%-90% of the time. Proud of my freckles, proud of booty chin and proud of myself for loving and accepting myself the way I am. ? #ILoveMe"

Over in the newspaper's comments section, viewers have been leaving thoughts. Their remarks have also been gathering green upvotes and red downvotes.

The most upvoted comment received over 167 upvotes.

"What she should say is "Almost No Makeup Monday". She is wearing mascara, eyebrow pencil, a bit of blusher and a matte pink lipstick."

"Ummmmm, but she IS wearing makeup," a user replied.

"Eyebrows are filled in," another popular comment read.

Over on Demi's Instagram, the response was positive. Over 45,000 fan comments were left, with these also including replies from the celebrity world.

Singer Normani racked up over 2,800 likes for her simple "Beauty" comment.

"Hi beauty!!" came from plus-size model and podcast host Ashley Graham – the 32-year-old recently interviewed Demi in-depth over her eating disorder history.

Likes also came in from Bella Thorne, Venus Williams, Vanessa Hudgens, and Gabrielle Union, plus "Modern Family" star Sarah Hyland and "Sports Illustrated" model Olivia Culpo.

September 2019 saw Demi brave an unedited and unfiltered bikini shot. The star posed in a leopard-print bikini showing off her curves and some cellulite, taking to her caption with empowering and body-positive words.

"This is my biggest fear. A photo of me in a bikini unedited. And guess what, it’s CELLULITE!!!! I’m just literally sooooo tired of being ashamed of my body, editing it (yes the other bikini pics were edited - and I hate that I did that but it’s the truth) so that others think I’m THEIR idea of what beautiful is, but it’s just not me. This is what I got. I want this new chapter in my life to be about being authentic to who I am rather than trying to meet someone else’s standards," she wrote.

The photo stands at over 9.9 million likes. Clearly, though, not everyone was convinced by the most recent shot.
