The 2022 Primetime Emmy Awards, held on Monday, September 12, at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, celebrated the outstanding works of those in the television industry, including the late Bob Saget.

Fans may recall that the brilliant comedian passed away in January 2022 after he was found unconscious at the Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Florida. And ever since, he has been tributed by many far and wide. He is survived by his beloved family, including his wife, Kelly Rizzo, who recently expressed via her Instagram Story how she felt about her late husband being honored at the 74th Emmy Awards.

Posting a video of the event's activity, Rizzo showed her numerous fans how the Emmys paid homage to Saget and added a message across the post. The clip gave a view of the late entertainment star on the screen with his younger self in the backdrop. His name was written on the monitor, and the word "performer" was inputted beneath.

There were also instrumentalists, including some violinists, seated in front of the screen, possibly playing a tune in honor of the late movie star.

"I've been a wreck all day waiting for this," the bereaved widow wrote on the update. "My heart broke all over again. But I know he'd be proud for this recognition." In concluding the message, she wrote that it was still "so damn weird and surreal," but she also seemed to appreciate the loving gesture.

The Emmys will not be the first to celebrate Saget's memory and impact on television, as he was also presented the Impact Award at the Fourth Annual Critics Choice Real TV Awards in June. Unfortunately, given his untimely passing months before, his wife had to represent him, and as The Blast reported, she gave a beautiful heartfelt speech, paying tribute to her sweetheart.

She expressed how honored she and Saget's "incredible" daughters felt to accept the award on his behalf but also confessed that it was "very bittersweet" as it all felt "so surreal." The TV host added that while watching and looking at her darling, she believed he was "larger than life" and "so full of life."

She further called him a "force of nature" and admitted to never fully coming to terms with his death as she felt it still did not make sense. Despite it being surreal and bittersweet to collect the honor for Saget, Rizzo was comforted by the fact that everyone still loved and admired him, and she knew how blessed he would feel to receive the award. In her words:

"I know that Bob would be so honored and so thrilled and so grateful to receive this award. I mean, he would be blown away. All he wanted to do was make people happy."

Soon after the award event, the "Miami Models" star spoke to PEOPLE about the honor, noting that her husband would have been filled with pride. She also recalled his famous series "America's Funniest Home Videos," which aired from 1989 to 1997, and called him "one of the pioneers in the reality TV world."

Rizzo felt strange without Saget, given that that was the first red carpet she had ever done without him. She also often believed he was still around but knew all she could do was celebrate him and his legacy.

The Eat Travel Rock Creator Discusses Grief With Fellow Widow Amanda Kloots

Back in May, Rizzo and "DWTS" star Amanda Kloots talked over the solemn topic of grief, with Kloots sharing how she coped since she lost her partner, Nick Cordero, to COVID in 2020. The Blast shared that the pro dancer, also a single mom to Elvis, compared grief to an onion, known for making one cry when peeled.

She felt like grief was unending like the onion, as it always continued because the bereaved went on through life. And several instances also added to the anguish, which admittedly made her cry.

Kloots further shared, "When your person dies, a lot of people will say, 'Don't worry. In a year, you're going to be so much better.' And you are, in a way. But I wish somebody would say, "Don't worry. Grief never ends, and it's okay." Speaking about grief may have been a painful experience, but it was also therapeutic as Rizzo could not help but share the "cathartic" moment on her Instagram Story.
