Amanda Bynes, the former Nickelodeon star, has been making headlines recently for her impromptu engagement to Paul Michael, a person she met during Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and lived with in a sober living home.

Bynes took to Instagram on Valentine's Day to showcase the massive engagement ring she received and to show the world her new fiance. While Bynes was undoubtedly happy about her romance and the prospects of getting married, there was a bigger issue at play, that being whether she could even get married in the first place.

Bynes' mother was granted conservatorship over her daughter following a number of incidents that included several arrests from odd and erratic behaviors, as well as, multiple stints in rehab and psychiatric facilities.

The implications of her mother having been granted the designation of the conservator are that she has the gets to decide whether Bynes can follow through with plans to get married, something that she reportedly is opposed to. Despite her mother's opposition, though, Bynes plans to speak with the judge to reassess the need for such 'guardianship, which she addressed in a recent Instagram post.

Just recently, Bynes felt the need to speak out on the controversial issue of her mother's conservatorship role in her life, while also thanking fans for their continued support as she works on getting her life back on track.

"Hey ya’ll, I wanna say thank you guys so much for your support," the What I Like About You star began her Instagram post. "The fact that you’ve been rooting for me for years means more than you know. Today I want to talk about a controversial topic, my conservatorship case."

Bynes would go on to share the cost of seeing her therapist and why it's important for her to have the judge reassess the conservatorship issue. "I have been going to a treatment center that charges $5,200 a month," she continued. "There’s no reason why I shouldn’t go to a therapist who takes my insurance for $5,000 less a month. This is why I’ve asked to see the judge next week regarding this conservatorship issue."

The former actress then thanked her fans one more time, while also apologizing for blasting her personal information on the internet.

Given the number of posts and updates Bynes has provided to people on social media in the last week or so, it's likely we'll have more updates about her conservator 'issue' in the coming days.
