Crowds gathered at the Palace in London, waiting for a positive update on the Queen's health. However, that update never came. By 6:30 pm, the union flag atop the palace was lowered to half-mast, and the palace officials posted the official notice that the Queen had passed on the gates outside.

The same notice went out on the palace's social media accounts, triggering a frenzy on the various platforms. The statements were accompanied by a black and white photo of the late monarch, revealing that she had died peacefully at Balmoral castle.
