Nicolas Cage And Wife Riko Shibata Are Officially PARENTS!

Hollywood veteran Nicolas Cage just welcomed his first child with his wife, Riko Shibata. The actor was previously married to Erika Koike; however, he annulled the four-day marriage in 2020. The 2021 wedding to Shibata is the 58-year-old's fifth marriage ceremony.

Cage had two boys in his previous unions with Christina Fulton and Alice Kim, making his child with Shibata his third. The couple married in 2021 after being introduced to each other in Japan by mutual friends. The actor went on to propose to Shibata via FaceTime and mailed the ring to her.

Cage first mentioned that they were expecting in April this year while promoting one of his movies. He revealed that he was excited to be a girl dad after fathering two sons for most of his life. The baby girl was born on September 7.

Cage and his wife, Shibata, recently welcomed their first child together after getting married in a Vegas ceremony in February last year. The couple's representative informed People Magazine that the baby girl, August Francesca Coppola Cage, was born on September 7.

The rep revealed that the couple was thrilled and that both the mother and baby were doing well post-birth. The baby girl's name is obviously different from what Cage previously said he intended to name her.

While talking to Kelly Clarkson in March, the 58-year-old said he intended to name her Lennon Augie as a tribute to his family as well as The Beetles. He said, "Her name, because of 'Across the Universe,' is gonna be Lennon Augie—Augie for my father. I'll call her Lenny for short."

The actor first made mention of the pregnancy in April when he was promoting his movie, "The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent," on "The Kelly Clarkson Show." The baby girl is Cage's third and the couple's first together.

The 58-year-old already has two sons from his previous marriages. While with actress Christina Fulton, he had Weston Coppola Cage, now 31, and then 16-year-old Kal-El Coppola Cage with Alice Kim, his ex-wife.

During his interview with Clarkson, Cage said, "I'm gonna announce some big news for everyone. I am gonna have a little girl." He went on to say that he was "thrilled" to become a girl dad after raising two boys for most of his life. "It's gonna be the biggest adventure of my life," the actor added.

Cage and Shibata first met each other in Shiga, Japan, after mutual friends introduced them to each other. At the time, the "National Treasure" actor was in the city to film "Prisoners of the Ghostland."

After dating for a while, the duo got engaged in 2020 via FaceTime and tied the knot in 2021. A source revealed that the ceremony was "very small and intimate" in the Las Vegas Wynn Hotel on a date decided on to honor the actor's father. Cage had on a Tom Ford tux, and Shibata decided on a Japanese handmade bridal kimono.

At the time, the 58-year-old's rep told E! News, "They exchanged traditional Catholic and Shinto vows with poetry from Walt Whitman and Haiku sprinkled in." The marriage is Cage's fifth, conducted almost two years after the actor annulled his marriage to Koike, which lasted only four days.

While talking on Marc Coppola's radio show, the actor spoke about how the engagement, which took place in the heat of the pandemic, was conducted. According to Cage, he proposed to Shibata on FaceTime and then mailed the unique ring to her.

He said, "She left New York and went back to Kyoto, Japan, and I went back to Nevada, and I haven't seen her for six months. We're really happy together, and we're really excited to spend that time together, so I finally just said, 'Look, I wanna marry you,' and we got engaged on FaceTime."

The Oscar-winning actor revealed that he popped the question to Shibata with a custom-made black diamond ring. The 27-year-old's favorite color is reportedly black, and she previously told Cage that she wanted a black diamond and black gold ring.
