'Jeopardy!' Fans Celebrate Amy Schneider Day In Oakland

"Jeopardy!" champion Amy Schneider has made a name for herself as one of the most beloved contestants to grace the "Jeopardy!" stage.

Although most fans know her as the contestant with the second-longest streak in "Jeopardy!" history with 40 games under her belt, Amy became the first openly trans contestant to qualify for any Tournament of Champions.

After that, she became the highest female earner in "Jeopardy!" history and the woman with the longest winning streak. She was the fifth player in the game show's history to reach the million-dollar mark, and the fourth to do so during regular gameplay.

Amy has won $1,382,800 dollars from her time on the show, but what she loves even more is the recognition of her achievements. The city of Oakland decided to honor Amy with her own special day and shared the news on social media so that "Jeopardy!" fans from around the world could celebrate right along with her!

The mayor of Oakland, Libby Schaaf, took to social media to share photographs of the two together as they celebrated her big day.

"Today is Amy Schneider Day in Oakland!" Schaaf tweeted. "@Jeopardamy has made our city proud as the first transgender @Jeopardy contestant as well as the winningest woman and second-longest winning streak ever! & Amy doesn't just say she's from Oakland, she shouts it! Oakland ❤ you Amy!"

It should be noted that Amy is not the first openly trans champion to ever compete on the show, but the first to make it all the way up to the Tournament of Champions.

Amy was quick to retweet the news, adding, "It’s Amy Schneider Day in Oakland! I love this town so d--- much, and to be honored like this, to be told that I’ve made Oakland proud… I’m genuinely getting emotional over here."

One former Oakland resident commented, "Great news, and well-deserved! I was born in Oakland in late 1956, and left the East Bay Area 55 years ago. Proud to be from Oakland (and wish the Raiders hadn’t left!)."

Another California native added, "Very cool, Amy... congrats! Proud to say I'm a bay area gal and CA native myself and you rocked on 'Jeopardy', woo hoooo! You were amazing and we are truly honored and so proud to have you among us!:

Other fans from around the world also chimed in to show their support. "Brava you! You made so many happy just by being so d--- smart and cool," another fan added. "Oakland has chosen well."

Fans of Amy Schneider are in for some great news, as she will appear in the 2022 Tournament of Champions this November, so fans don't have long to wait to see her back on stage.

Season 38 was truly the season of super champions. Matt Amodio, who won 38 games when season 38 began in September 2021, and Mattea Roach, who won 23 games in May, will also be joining Amy in the highly anticipated tournament.

The three contestants were so successful that producers decided that they will skip the quarter-final round and will automatically be added to the semi-final brackets.
