According to new legal documents, obtained by The Blast, Dewan recently filed a “declaration of disclosure” in the case — telling the court she has turned over all financial and other information to the other side. In most divorce cases, this is a significant sign that the ex-couple is settling the case.
We’re told a trial setting conference is set for later this month but will be continued, considering the two parties are about to close the book on the case.
We broke the story, Channing and Jenna split in 2018 after being married for almost 10 years. The couple first met in 2006 on the set of ‘Step It Up’ and married several years later.
Jenna Dewan Settles Divorce, Custody Issues With Channing Tatum
As you can imagine the settlement of money, in this case, was easier than for some celebrities — partially because they are both wealthy and still have thriving careers in Hollywood. Also, it helps to have a good lawyer like Dewan does in Samantha Spector. The bigger issue was the custody arrangement and support for their daughter, Everly. The settlement between the two stars will include support for their daughter, and a separation of their respective community property.
In court documents, the couple agreed to not exploit their daughter for any social media advertisements. In other words, they can post family photos and events if they choose, but they will both refrain from using Everly for any for-profit items. These will include “sponsorships, advertisements, or any social media campaign without the other party’s consent.”
Jenna Dewan Opens Up About Split With ‘Magic Mike’ Star Channing Tatum
It should be noted, that because the duo is in the film and television industries, it can be hard to come up with a custody schedule that fits both parties. “Due to our constantly changing work schedules, we have had conflicts over adjustments to our schedules to ensure both parties are able to have equal time with our daughter, Everly,” Channing admitted in the documents. We’re told all of these issues will be addressed in the settlement.
Dewan recently opened up about the split in a new wellness book, saying, “I’d come to realize the dynamic I was in wasn’t serving me nor was it serving my daughter. First and foremost I had to accept the realization this isn’t working and had moved into hurting.” Adding, “The public saw Channing and I in this idealized romanticized light. This made things difficult for me because I like being as honest and real as I can.”
Since the breakup, Jenna and Channing have both moved on with new relationships, with Dewan having a new baby. “I wasn’t looking for it,” Dewan told People. Adding, “But it sort of took me by complete storm. It happened when I least expected it.”
The settlement itself might be kept confidential, and all it will require is a rubber stamp from the court.
