The sister of actress Amber Heard, Whitney Henriquez, is speaking out against Johnny Depp and his brief appearance at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards.

Although some fans loved his brief cameo as a Moon Person, others thought it was in poor taste, given how his ex-wife had accused him of abuse.

Amber Heard’s sister Whitney Henriquez took to her Instagram Stories to call out MTV, which she renamed DMTV in her post, to call out Johnny Depp’s cameo appearance.

“@MTV you’re disgusting and clearly desperate!” she wrote over a photo of her sister and the altered MTV logo. “I really hope that none of the people that have made this call have daughters…”

She added the hashtag #IStandWithAmberHeard and #DVMAS, which also appears at the bottom of the photo.

On his Instagram page, the "Sweeney Todd" actor posted a longer clip, where he can be heard saying, “I just want you guys to know I’m available for birthdays, bar mitzvahs, bat mitzvahs, weddings, wakes…. Any old thing you need.”

Many fans supported the cameo appearance and were glad to see his first TV appearance in a very long time. Depp has been keeping a low profile ever since his ex-wife Amber Heard accused him of domestic abuse in a 2018 Washington Post op-ed. Earlier this year, a seven-person jury unanimously decided that the "Aquaman" actress had committed defamation in that op-ed.

As The Blast previously reported, Heard’s younger sister, Whitney Henriquez, 34, took the stand to testify against Johnny Depp on May 18. She said that her sister and "The Lone Ranger" actor "seemed really in love" at first before she felt that Depp started exhibiting "controlling" behavior.

Henriquez said that the "abuse" started with Depp making “light jokes” about Heard’s wardrobe and “then it intensified.” She claimed that Depp's stylist started dressing her sister as well and alleged that Depp was “controlling what she wore to events.” Whitney said that her sister’s clothing became “more and more conservative” while she was in the relationship.

Henriquez also said that her sister told her about some of the violent fights the two allegedly had, claiming  “some device of Amber’s would get smashed,” such as a phone, a tablet, or a laptop, every time the two got into an argument.

Specifically, on March 23, 2015, Henriquez told that jury that she was staying with the couple in one of Depp’s L.A. penthouses. At one point, she claimed her sister woke her up in the middle of the night, asking, “Can you believe he’s cheating on me?”

Henriquez alleged that the actor eventually got involved in the fight, which involved the two “screaming horrible things at each other.” Whitney alleges that Depp called her a “used up trash bag.” In response, Heard allegedly called Depp “old and fat.”

During the argument, Henriquez claimed that Depp had hit her in the back. In response, Heard allegedly shouted, “Don’t hit my f---ing sister.”  Henriquez then alleged that Depp then grabbed Heard by the hair and struck her repeatedly across the face. She said the two retreated to a bedroom and locked the door, where Depp continued to shout profanities at them through the door.

Although Amber Heard has faced vocal backlash online for "faking" the abuse - at least according to some - Whitney Henriquez has been one of her most vocal supporters. During the trial, she told the jury that "Her reputation is all she has," adding, “Amber has worked so hard to overcome everything that she went through in the duration of their relationship, she really really tried her best to move past it.”
