Johnny Depp Is Looking Into Directing After Legal Victory Over Amber Heard
Although the “Aquaman” actress is currently looking to appeal the jury’s ruling that found that she had committed defamation when she claimed that Johnny Depp had abused her, it looks like the “Edward Scissorhands” actor is moving on with his career.
As reported by Variety earlier this month, Depp will step behind the camera for the first time in a quarter of a century to direct “Modigliani,” which is reported to be a biographical drama about the Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani. “House of Gucci” star Al Pacino will produce the film alongside Barry Navidi.
The film is based on Dennis McIntyre’s play of the same name. The story takes place in Paris in 1916 and focuses on the life of the Italian-born painter and artist. According to the film’s press release, Modigliani, “long considered by himself a critical and commercial failure, navigates a turbulent and eventful 48 hours that will become a turning point in his life, ultimately solidifying his reputation as an artistic legend.”
“The saga of Mr. Modigliani’s life is one that I’m incredibly honored and truly humbled, to bring to the screen,” Depp said in a statement. “It was a life of great hardship, but eventual triumph — a universally human story all viewers can identify with.”
No release date has yet been announced for the project, but fans are anxiously waiting to see where the actor’s career goes next.
Depp Reportedly Lands Multimillion-Dollar Deal With Dior
According to TMZ, the luxury fashion house Dior has reportedly signed a new agreement with Johnny Depp to prolong their long-term collaboration. The new deal is reported to be worth as much as seven figures. The deal was reportedly finalized after executives from Dior and well-known fashion photographer Greg Williams attended one of Depp’s recent performances in Paris.
Even before the jury had come to a conclusion, Depp had headed off to the U.K. to perform with Jeff Buck on his ongoing tour. In an Instagram post, fans seemed to unanimously support Dior continuing their partnership with Depp.
