Shailene Woodley Wants People To Act More 'Goofy' On Instagram As She Preaches 'Authencity'

Hollywood actress Shailene Woodley recently dropped some deep words and advice for her fans about handling social media, especially Instagram.

The "Big Little Lies" alum took to her Instagram to share her thoughts on the app. She also spoke about the importance of making people laugh by showing off our goofy side. The Emmy-nominated actress added that while she was a hopeless romantic, she believed in a little bit of mystery and authenticity. This advice works specifically in this day and age, where various aspects of people's lives get shared all over the internet.

Before this, she had called out the media for constantly prying into her social media feed following the controversy surrounding her then fiancé's covid vaccination status.

The "Big Little Lies" alum gave her two cents on how to keep things light on social media. Woodley took to her Instagram to share her thoughts on the app, alongside images from her recent Europe getaway.

"Was talking to a girlfriend this am about Instagram, anxiety, public perception and in general, I find diatribes about these subjects on social media to be a bit insufferable… because I struggle with the REAL factor of it all," she began.

"But, my lovely lady was expressing how she felt insecure about something someone had posted about her because it was only showing the 'weird' 'ridiculous' side of her personality … no 'normal' shit. I said 'normal' isn't real … it's a forced version of herself, ourselves … and that her 'goofy' is the part of her that makes this world light up."

She continued, "I also believe you can't give it all away over the internet. Keep it sexy in the flesh, you know? Instagram should be a place we come to laugh at ourselves + society. Not beat ourselves up for it."

This post comes a year after Woodley addressed a report surrounding her social media activity. According to Today, she called out the media for prying into her social media activity following the fiasco surrounding her ex-fiancé Aaron Rodgers' vaccination status.

At the time, she shared an unrelated video of a pig getting a bath on her Instagram story. She also posted a message addressed to the media while adding that they were grasping at straws.

"Just read somewhere that the media is claiming I deleted an insta story amid the 'chaos,'" she wrote. "(an astrology post of all things) (not cryptic at all, you dummies)."

Woodley continued, "do you even know how stories work, brah ?? they self-delete after 24 hrs. literally lol'ing over here at your determination to make a story out of nothing. Grasping at straws, my dears." This response was about articles that reported that the actress had posted, "Calm seas may bring you peace, but storms are where you'll find your power."

It was announced late last year that Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has tested positive for the coronavirus and will miss the next game the football team has against the Kansas City Chiefs.

According to protocols, the 37-year-old was to spend at most ten days in isolation and could only return after he was confirmed asymptomatic. This protocol was in place for unvaccinated players, as vaccinated players only needed two negative tests, one day apart. The player initially told reporters he was vaccinated, then later admitted to being unvaccinated, citing that he was allergic to "an ingredient that's in the mRNA vaccines." He also expressed fears concerning potential side effects of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine.

This caused a lot of controversies, with many calling him an "anti-vax flat-earther." He, however, opened up about the issue during an appearance on the "The Pat McAfee" show.

"I believe strongly in bodily autonomy and the ability to make choices for your body. Health is not a one-size-fits-all for everybody."

In 2020, the "Divergent" star opened up about having a condition that left her "very, very sick" and almost derailed her career.

"I haven't spoken much about this publicly, and I will, one day," she shared with The New York Times. "While I was doing the Divergent movies and working hard, I also was struggling with a deeply personal, very scary physical situation."

She shared more details of her condition with The Hollywood Reporter, adding that it was a debilitating condition that made her unable to physically participate in some projects.

Woodley, however, assured her fans that she was at the tail end of the condition, which according to her, was a "silent, invisible pain."

"Unless someone can see that you have a broken arm or leg, it's really difficult for people to relate to the pain you're experiencing when it's a silent, quiet and invisible pain."
