After several seasons as a husband and wife combination on hit show 'Blue Brothers,' co-stars Donnie Wahlberg and Amy Carlson's on screen romance has seemingly come to an end.

Once this occurred, Danny Reagan had to figure out how to then move on with their two kids now that they were no longer in the picture, a debacle that had fans theorizing for quite some time, and has left fans questioning if Wahlberg and Carlson still keep in touch post-show.

Back in season 8 of the show, Linda Reagan was killed off in a tragic helicopter crash. Although this seemingly wrapped her character up in the context of the show's storyline, it was indicative of her simply moving on from the program entirely.

“I heard from my representation that they didn’t work out a deal. So what I heard is that basically, creatively for her, personally, it was time for her to move on," Will Estes said to Showbiz Cheat Sheet

"And so, you know, it was kind of a shock. Shock to the characters on the show and a shock to us personally as colleagues," he concluded.

Fans of the show were seemingly angry at the time to not see Carlson's character's passing at the very least, and it left a bit of a hole for those who considered her a pivotal part of the story.

Since leaving her role at 'Blue Bloods,' Carlson has appeared in 'The Village' and 'The Society.'

"But I think what’s good is that the audience needed to evolve after Linda," Wahlberg told 'Showbiz Cheat Sheet' in regards to why his character didn't immediately move on following her death, “The same as Danny did. I think I needed to mourn or Danny needed to mourn the loss of Linda.”

"Most importantly, they love him and Linda together and whatever comes along for him next needs to be something that honors their history and their relationship and the audience’s love of Amy Carlson’s character," he continued.

When speaking to Country Living, Wahlberg was quoted having said, "I reach out to her and we stay in touch," he mentioned, "Trust me, Danny Reagan is still upset and Donnie Wahlberg misses her tremendously."

He continued to comment on their long-term relationship, saying that, "Obviously I was going to miss her as a friend and a co-star on the show, but I also missed the little things that she did. She would help the kids in the scene like their mom."
