Jenny McCarthy Turned Down Playboy Hosting Role For This Reason

Jenny McCarthy was noticeably absent from the Secrets of Playboy docuseries featured on A&E earlier this year. The former Playmate of the year has finally broken her silence and shared what went down and why she didn’t show up for Playboy.

The actress appeared on the #NoFilter with Zack Peter podcast and revealed that she was asked to be interviewed along with the many people who appeared in the documentary. She was also asked to host the program!

They asked her a whopping six times and finally, McCarthy declined the tempting offer. She felt like her experience with the magazine and Hugh Hefner and that Mansion was not one that the documentary represented.

“I didn’t have the same experiences, so I wasn’t going to sign up for a paycheck and be salacious when I didn’t experience those things,” she explained.

Former Playboy bunnies shared horrific stories of their encounters with sexual assault all thanks to their connection to Playboy. Many people not only women came out of the shadows to reveal either what they saw, what they swept under the rug, or what happened to them.

Some women claimed they were kidnapped ad held captive in the homes of the now-defunct Playboy Club members. Playboy security had to break them out after one of the women finally had the opportunity to get to a phone.

Many women shared being sexually assaulted by Hefner’s friends and some staff (bodyguards mostly). Let’s not forgot the host of now-known male predators that frequented the club and mansion like Bill Cosby, Jeffrey Epstein, and John Huston.

The “Masked Singer” just pointed out that hearing some of the stories solidified her reason for saying no. “Hearing their stories, my heart broke for a lot of these women,” she admits to Zack Peter. “I’m so grateful that when I was there, Hef was married [to Kimberly Conrad] and it was kind of run like a strict dormitory.”

McCarthy’s relationship with the publication began in 1993 when she first posed as Playmate of the Month. In 1994, she posed as Playmate of the Year and continued up until about 2012 to appear occasionally. This time was heavily documented early on in the series. It was known that Conrad was the only one who could wrangle ol’ Hef and she kept him in line, especially around the women.

McCarthy danced lightly around the topic but the series was so captivating that these stories can’t really be danced around. The history of Playboy might be worst off than it ever was. Especially now that former girlfriend and Girls Next Door star Holly Madison is sharing her story more candidly.

She described sex with Hefner as “hell” on her podcast Girls Next Level and just wanted to get through it as quickly as possible.

The docuseries also spent almost an entire episode on Paige Young, the model who lay down on an American flag and committed suicide. She left a note of sorts that detailed she was sexually assaulted numerous times by powerful men including Hugh Hefner which led to her giving up.

On the other hand, McCarthy is appalled based on her very angelic experience with the publication. Going into further detail, McCarthy shared that her experience was more of a safe haven. “Like, we weren’t even allowed near Hef or around the house. It was almost like Catholic school, to be honest.”

What’s more, the scene was drastically different as well; “there were no orgies or big parties going on,” she states.  “So I think I went in there in a window of time that was kind of safe for me. But hearing some of these girls’ stories was really rough.”

If only it had stayed that way.
