Snoop Dogg Says He Didn't Threaten Gayle King: 'I'm a Non-Violent Person'

After days of controversy and intense backlash surrounding the drama around Gayle King's interview regarding Kobe Bryant, Snoop Dogg is letting people know he did not lead a violent charge against the embattled TV host.

Snoop took to Instagram this weekend to clarify comments he made earlier in the week after he harshly called out King for asking Lisa Leslie if Bryant's past accusation of sexual assault would tarnish the late NBA star's legacy. Snoop echoed the sentiments of many who felt King was trying to destroy Kobe so soon after his death.

Snoop captioned his video message, "P. S. A. From the peoples champ now carry on and be nice to others."

"Here's a message for the people that need to know. I'm a non-violent person. When I said what I said, I spoke for the people who felt Gayle was very disrespectful to Kobe Bryant and his family. Now with that being said, what do I look like wanting some harm to come to a 70-year-old woman? I was raised way better than that," the legendary rapper explained.

For the record, Gayle is only 65 years old ... but Snoop's message of peace seemed genuine.

Snoop said he only commented that Gayle was "out of pocket" for the questions on Kobe, and that she should "have a little bit more respect for Vanessa, her babies and Kobe Bryant's legacy."

He added that "We're very non-violent, but we speak from the heart. Some of you who have no heart, don't understand that."

Snoop's message was liked by some very big names in the world of hip-hop, including Diddy, T.I. and Pharrell Williams, who dropped some love in the comments with heart emojis.

Since CBS released the preview clip of Gayle King's interview, the TV host has taken to Instagram and condemned her employer for putting her in a terrible position. She also said the clip was taken out of context and made her look bad. Gayle's BFF, Oprah Winfrey, quickly jumped to her defense during an appearance on NBC.

"She is not doing well because she now has death threats and has to now travel with security. She is feeling very much attacked. Bill Cosby is...tweeting from jail," Oprah explained.

Indeed, Bill Cosby has jumped in on the controversy while applauding Snoop for calling out Gayle. Cosby's wife, Camille, has also echoed his sentiments and shamed media personalities, like Oprah, with accusations of attacking "successful black men."
