Gary Busey Denied The Groping Allegations
According to reports obtained by TMZ, Busey denied the claims that he groped two women during the “Monster-Mania” convention in Cherry Hill, N.J. The event was held from August 12 through August 14 and had Busey in attendance as a special guest alongside a couple of other actors, including Ralph Macchio, Tom Skerritt, and Veronica Cartwright.
Busey, who had attended previous editions, was removed from the convention premises after several complaints were made to the showrunners that he had behaved in a sexually inappropriate manner towards two of the attendees.
On Monday, the “Camp Manna” star told the publication that “nothing happened” with the two women who alleged that he groped them during the convention. He further defended his character, saying his actions throughout the event left him with no cause for regret.
Local authorities inquired into the matter and questioned relevant witnesses at the convention following the complaints. Subsequently, they filed four sexual crimes charges against Busey, which included two counts of criminal sexual contact and one count of harassment.
He Said ‘It Was All False’
Per TMZ, some complaints against the actor included a lewd request to a woman about where she had done her breast. The publication also reported that the woman claimed he had placed his face close to her bosom and made moves to unlatch her bra strap.
Other complaints detailed how the actor had grabbed the butt of some attendees he met at the convention. While Busey did not deny meeting his accusers, he specifically stated, “It was all false,” as regards their allegations.
The actor also said that the ladies fabricated the incident and claimed that his interaction with them took less than “ten seconds,” after which they left to participate in the activities. To back up his claims, Busey asserted that “his partner and the camerawoman” were his witnesses and that “nothing happened.”.
Gary Busey To Appear In Court On August 31
During his chat with the publication, the actor did not reveal whether he had contacted his attorneys to fight the allegations. Police are still investigating the details of the matter in preparation for arraigning Busey on August 31.
Although they have not yet shared any further news on their investigation, a representative of the law authorities gave an official statement after making inquiries into the complaints.
“It was about contact. It was about touching,” Cherry Hill Township Police Lt. Robert Scheunemann said in an announcement, per the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Additionally, the convention’s organizers, Monster – Mania LLC, said in a statement issued through their counsel that the actor had been expelled from the event due to the claims.
“[HE ]was removed from the convention and instructed not to return,” the statement read.
Gary Busey Was Caught Pants Down In Public
A day after police filed charges against Busey, he was seen pulling his pants down in public. Per Page Six, the 78-year-old actor was videoed sitting on a bench at Point Dume Park in Malibu with his black sweatpants hanging loosely around his knees.
Busey sported a cap and sunglasses that shielded his face in the clip. He also wore a white shirt that covered his underwear but was not enough to reach his lap. After sitting for a while and taking a smoke, he pulled his pants back up to leave the park.
While Busey’s public exposure antic was not necessarily unlawful, it could sometimes lead to a charge of public indecency when done in the view of others. Such a scenario would only have piled on more trouble for the embattled actor.
