We may see Hollywood stars like Tom Holland as one of the most confident lots of the crop, but they are just as fallible and human as any of us, as the Marvel hero proves. Jonah Hill is also one such Hollywood star, who has always been open about his anxiety issues and has recently taken steps to protect his mental health. Recently, the 38-year-old actor decided he will no longer promote his movies, at least for a while, to make sure he is in the pink of mental health.

More power to him, we say, and to these other Hollywood hunks who have taken steps to protect themselves.

After tons of comedies like "Superbad" to his work in award-winning movies like "The Wolf of Wall Street" and "Don’t Look Up," Hill has turned director, also starring in a documentary shot in secret. Titled "Stutz", the documentary is all about frank discussions about mental health, and also how Hill's dream job has now turned into a nightmare, because of movie promotions. The title came from his therapist, and the discussions are between the two as well.

This time, keeping in line with the theme of the movie, Hill wrote an open letter on Deadline, where he made it clear, that he's taking a step away from promoting his work. He will also not be promoting other work, including the Kenya Barris-directed Netflix comedy "You People", which Hill co-wrote and produced with Barris.

Said Hill, talking about "Stutz", "Through this journey of self-discovery within the film, I have come to the understanding that I have spent nearly 20 years experiencing anxiety attacks, which are exacerbated by media appearances and public-facing events. I am so grateful that the film will make its world premiere at a prestigious film festival this fall, and I can’t wait to share it with audiences around the world in the hope that it will help those struggling. However, you won’t see me out there promoting this film, or any of my upcoming films, while I take this important step to protect myself. If I made myself sicker by going out there and promoting it, I wouldn’t be acting true to myself or to the film."

Hill says he's lucky to be able to take time off, but not lose his job while working on his anxiety, and hopes people can take inspiration from his little step. Hill also deleted his social media accounts post this letter.

Much like Jonah Hill, Marvel superhero Spider-Man, aka Tom Holland, has also gone off the social media grid, and made an announcement via a social media video, saying, "I find Instagram and Twitter to be overstimulating, to be overwhelming. I get caught up and I spiral when I read things about me online, and ultimately it's very detrimental to my mental state. So, I decided to take a step back and delete the app."

Before this post, Holland had not been active on Instagram since July, and Twitter since February, and now he's of both, at least for a while.

He briefly reappeared on Instagram to promote a charity, but went off again, after saying, "There is an awful stigma against mental health and I know that asking for help and seeking help isn't something we should be ashamed of."

Even before Jonah Hill or Tom Holland took a mental health stand, singer Shawn Mendes was already on it. He did just one show in Portland, Oregon in June before he postponed his tour. Shortly after the "three-week postponement", Mendes put a full stop to the tour and explained his reasons in a social media post.

The singer mentioned that he started this tour excited to finally get back to playing live after a long break due to the pandemic, but he "was not ready for how difficult touring would be after this time away." He also said that after, "speaking more with my team and working with an incredible group of health professionals", he realized, "I need to take the time I’ve never taken personally, to ground myself and come back stronger."
