Back in 2016, Kim, Kourtney and company were in Paris, France for Paris Fashion Week.
One night, Kim decided to go home rather than head out to a club with her sisters and friends. The SKIMS creator was accompanied by security back to the hotel.
While getting ready to go to sleep, her hotel room was broken into by a group of men posing as police officers.
Kim was ripped from her bed, duct-taped and placed in the bathtub.
The men ransacked her room and took off with $10 million worth of diamonds and jewelry. That same week, Kim was flaunting her massive 20-carat diamond engagement ring from Kanye West and other jewels on social media.

“Since she was throwing money away, I was there to collect it, and that was that. Guilty? No, I don’t care,” Abbas said. “They should be a little less showy towards people who can’t afford it.”
The convicted criminal said the Kardashians and celebrities who flaunt their wealth are asking for trouble.
“For some people, it’s provocative,” Abbas stated.
Abbas and the rest of the thieves were deemed the “gangster grandpas” given their old age. Most of them men were over the age of 60.
He was released from prison due to health reasons concerning his heart after spending 22-months behind bars.
The “gangster grandpas” used the internet to track down Kim and her whereabouts in Paris.
At the time, Kim was posting her location in real time, so it was very easy to follow her every move.
Abbas served as the hotel lobby look-out.
Social Media Led The Robbers To Kim
“Madame Kardashian’s secretary called for help. But she called 911 in the United States, which scared us, which made them lose a lot of time. And when we got out, there was a bunch of police outside who didn’t know anything about the robbery,” he said.
Abbas even wrote a memoir titled, “I Kidnapped Kim Kardashian.”
According to French media, Abbas has been in and out of jail on various crimes for decades. He explained he robbed her because he was short on cash.
Since the 2016 incident, the mother-of-four has taken a massive step back from posting her jewels and money on social media.
She no longer posts photos, videos or content in real time. Kim’s admitted she shares content days after it was created.
Kim opened up about the robbery on David Letterman’s Netflix series, “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction.”
“So they were speaking. Yelling at me in French. And I just sat up and… they kept on saying, ‘The ring. The ring,’” she recalled to Letterman.
Kim handed over the ring to the robbers and was then grabbed by one of the two men in her room.
“I was like, ‘Okay, this is the time I’m gonna get raped. Like, just deal, like, it’s… This is, it’s gonna happen. So just prepare yourself,’” Kim said while wiping away tears. “But then he tied me up with handcuffs, and then zip ties, and then duct tape. And then duct-taped my mouth and my eyes.”
During a 2017 appearance on “The Ellen Show,” Kim explained the robbery was meant to happen to hear, because it was meant to teach her a lesson.
“I was definitely materialistic before and not that there’s anything bad with having things and working hard to get those things… but I’m so happy that my kids this me,” she said. “I just don’t care about that stuff [materialistic things] anymore.”
